ok as per my last thread here...i bought a few 2nd hand games (15 to be exact) some old some new...the old games i load on a virtual drive and it works fine but the newish games dont work WHY? i mean like crysis and splinter cell 2 ...i loaded the iso's (crysis only has one though a 7gig one) and i did it exactly like the old games but they still give a secucom error or something and says load original disk...i dont know why! please help
should i rather just make copies of my original disks and use the backups instead because i really dont want to use the original disks all the time...2 are already not working cos i left it out on my table and now the disk 2 dont work for some reason....
 
oh yeah im using daemon lite and i did make sure all the green lights are on :)
 
You said you bought the games, which means they came on a disk, now what happens when you run the game off the disk instead of running it as an ISO image OR am i missing something here?

Use the orignal disks to install, which should be once in a blue moon, and then fix it with a no-cd patch. There should be no reason for you to use virtual drives. :)

Edited: Sorry for sounding nasty, just had a k@k day today, and got hassled by some other dude who buys pirated games and don't know how to load cracks & every time he troubles me with it.

If you play multiple games its a pain to have to swap discs, besides discs last longer if you only use them to install the game.:)

strange :confused: i have yet to destroy a disc by playing. do you use your game discs as skateboards as well?

my discs dont have a single scratch on them, even after excessive usage. am i doing something wrong? rule of thumb: look after your stuff, then you don't need to pirate/backup
 
GEEEEEZZZZZZ GUYS !!!! i come back this morning to all of this ??? after having an accident this morning :( wow really isnt going to be my day today ! NO THEY ARE ALL ORIGINAL DISKS ! YES THEY ALL WORK FINE BUT THEY ARE ALOT OF THEM NOW!!! i dont want to use the originals because 2 of them are already not working ! the disks 2 doesnt read the files properly anymore...i dont know what i did wrong which is why im asking about backing them up! i understand all the craziness about pirating etc but when you get a guy like me who has ORIGINALS and still cant even ask a simple question about backups it really sucks ! most of the games are oldish and i dont want to risk not getting another copy if something happens to the original so would rather back them up or use the virtual drive instead....not a pirate just a simple guy who's just getting into gaming unfortunately for me it seems......
 
so you cannot install some of the games using the originals, and you want to try to back it up to see if that fixes it?

if i may be a drip, could you perhaps write in paragraphs and use some punctuation? its kind of confusing reading those walls of text and forgetting to breathe...

ok my bad, all the games install properly (infact all of them are already installed on my pc except for the two i mentioned earlier), the problem is when i double click the game icon (any game) it asks me to insert the disk which i do and it works fine! I read on this forum somewere that i dont need to do that all the time...i just need to create a backup of the disk 2 on a virtual drive...that way i wont have to keep inserting the disk of the game i want to play... thats it! no piracy just a noob wanting to learn :)
 
Incorrect javs, what you need to do after you have installed the "newer" games is get "no CD cracks" from a website like www.gamecopyworld.com. This will overwrite the startup file for the game and allow it to work without a CD/DVD inserted. With the older games you will find that you can make an image of the disc's with Alcohol 52% [or other ISO creating tools] and just load those up when you want to play a game.

The thing is that newer copy protection was designed to stop this kind of behaviour, even when in your case it isn't for something illegal, rather just the safety of your original disks.

There is not much you can do except get a no cd fix, since trying to make images otherwise involves some insane effort, I've read forums where people disabled real drives to make images work and so on.

hope not :( it's my girlfriends car ! hoppefully they can just touch it up and won't have to re-spray the entire panel ....will take it in the weekend ....
 
Download a no-cd crack from gamecopyworld or megagames as mentioned above.

I think securerom or some other newer software does not allow you to use daemon or similar on the newer games :/ unfortunately it is not an exact science and playing the games without the original CD will be tricky in some cases.

Frankly I am too lazy to worry about virtual discs and what not so I just use the CD all the time. Just look after them man :)
