Well old notes actually.
Are they worth anything more than the face value ?
Where do I get it appraised?

I would be interested in buying them from you. Don't know how much they worth though.

Are those not collector's items? - they are usually boxed and unused. The condition of the ones the OP has is 2nd hand.

Probably , I somma just googled old SA bank notes "jan" and got those.

In the condition they are in they probably won't be worth much.
Notes need to be in mint condition to increase the value.

I have notes like that. Worth R100 or so

The 10 shilling one might be worth something as it's in the best condition. Still not great though.

The others not really, they are pretty knackered.

Post pictures here: http://forum.bidorbuy.co.za/coins-notes-numismatist/ (we have lots of collectors on bob and they will give you some feedback).

Your ten-shilling for example could easily fetch about 1K - watch these auctions:

If you decide to list coins/notes on bidorbuy, just read this section to avoid any issues with SARB - http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/help/1041/South_African_Coins_and_Notes_Selling_and_Buying_Policy

Thanks for this. Much appreciated.

I collect money, not for their value, more as a hobby.
You don't wanna sell them? I don't care about the condition.

They've all got " Not legal tender" written on them, so unfortunately they're worthless.

have three of those notes in me collection .....

I paid R60 for the R2
I paid R30 for the R1

and R300 For the 10 Pond note, if I recall correctly, I bought them at that market at Parden Eiland about 9 years ago....
