Someone do me a favour and gimmie a diagnosis of the modem and the specs please:)
 
BlaZor, I dont think you're understanding. As mentioned in previous posts, iBurst is totally proprietary ... it has no similarity to any other wireless standards or kit avaliable on the market (e.g. WiFi).

R&D is done by Arraycomm and manufacture of all hw (e.g. UTD,UTC & Base stations etc.) is done by Kyocera. To my knowledge Kyocera only sell to network operators using the iBurst system. This is currently limited to WBS in SA & Personal Broadband Ltd in Aus.

So you can only buy UTC/UTDs from WBS or a re-seller and will not be able to buy any other type of wireless kit & modify it to work with iBurst.
 
The modems are manufactured by Kyocera. I couldn't get tech info on the modems yet on the 'net. Emails to Kyocera and Arraycomm have produced nothing except referrals to WBS :(

This piece of hardware is anything ive ever seen.
iBurst is called a WWAN- wide wirless area network.
Imagine if other countries had this?!?!:(
 
wide wireless area network, its basically a off shoot of wifi but the way iburst differs is in the way it organises channels.
 
like wifi mode a, its uses 5ghz. But its covers 6kms instead of 200m, how does the channels work slim?

The manufacturer of iBurst UTC and UTD modems is Kyocera, based in Japan.

There was a possibility that another [AFAIK Japanese] company would introduce their own iBurst compatible modems, but I doubt that will happen now or ever - since Arraycomm pulled out of iBurst the future is bleak...
 
iBurst is very exceptional. NO other isp gives you that, cept 3g
 
Say if i get that card pci adapter, can i get an external aerial if i get bad reception indoors?

Yep, you will still be able to attach an external iBurst UTC antenna to the iBurst UTC card, which sticks out of the Elan PCMCIA Adapter card, this is what I do with the Vodafone branded 3G Data Card that I have on loan from Vodacom :).

Did you mean the Dewell guys ... supposedly releasing product Q3 2005 ... not sure if its out of date? ... look quite funky tho ... check bottom of the page: http://www.arraycomm.com/prods/ib_bs_solutions.htm
 
Looks like WBS have been speaking to Dewell already.

Did some hunting around and it seem they are the ones developing the iBurst VoIP phones ... as per the recent WBS press release about providing VoIP on iBurst.
