For some reason, JHB municipality have my rates on one bill - with my electricity on another. Totally seperate account numbers and everything. I didn't mind.

Now yesterday I get a THIRD account in the post - also rates - outstanding by an amount of R5,500.00. It's my house, addressed to me etc - but it's seperate to my other rates account which is paid monthly and square.

So, obviously some error but I cannot reach these people EVER. I've tried 3 or 4 times with NO success. No emails get returned, no phones get answered - nothing.

/end vent.
 
I figured out what they did ... it just pisses me off that I need to go IN to fix it because NOTHING works of theirs. I can guarantee I'm going to have trouble when I go in and possibly in future as well ...

My brother and I inherited the house and tried to purchase his 50%. It went as far as the deeds office, before it was rejected due to legal/trust issues. We left it.

Now it seems that during that time, they opened a NEW account for me (addressed to me) but kept the existing running. They're double charging the R700.00pm rates on both!

I've been paying the existing, but because I didn't know about this new one opened (shouldn't have) - I haven't ever paid it.

The worst is that I have an excellent credit history which is likely going to be fscked up because of their issues. Another issue is that I'm renting the house out - and council have threatened to stop services if no payment ios made.
