Webafrica is sure taking their time!
Hi all,
After months of "fun" with Neotel, i decided to make the switch.
Here are my experiences:
Went to telkom direct on the 26.03.2009
Service was a bit off (they forgot to give me a date as their exchange was offline etc) but all in all, i paid and got the registration sorted out.
Had a technician come over to my house on 02.04.2009 (nearly had a heart attack when he called to say he was already there and i wasn't). Rushed to my house, and there was quite a delay. Oke couldn't get the line working. Instead of telling me that he will be back, he actually took a brand new cable and rewired the entire length from the box to my apartment using a glue gun to neaten it all. Joe (was his name) really did a splendid job.
Applied for webafrica uncapped IS on 03.04.2009
Tyrone took care of every step, and has gotten my registration up and running by 10am on Friday morning. Another great job there.
Now i just gotta wait a week or so for a new modem to arrive from IS. A bit bummed by that, since i am paying for a week or 2 of no internet, but here is to hoping that it comes soon.
Today is the 14th, and I got some bad news. Turns out its not 2 weeks max wait, but 14 working days wait. Spoke to a Webafrica representative, and he assured me that the modem is with IS and will get delivered soon. Here is to hoping... and The deadline:
22.04.09
Today is the 23/04/2009
Still no reply from Webafrica, and every time I call i get the same answer that my router is still with IS and that they will contact me when its ready.
I think i just wasted R2000 on a month without internet.
And I'm not amused.
I got the router today.
Yay
After a couple of hours of resetting the router (from their side) it finally worked today at 04:00 05/05/2009.
After exactly a month after application, it works. Lets hope i dont break it
