My DSL line seemed to be dropping intermittently, so I phoned Telkom to do a Port Reset.
Dialed in and prepared myself for a long wait.

And was promptly helped by a very helpful and clued-up lady.
She checked my line speed and connectivity and did a port reset.

While waiting for the modem to restart - we started chatting. I complimented her on their service and she told me Sundays was the best time to phone, as it was normally very quiet. And then she said 'I actually had someone phone me from Eskom last week, complaining that their Internet was down, so I asked him to check if it wasn't due to load shedding.'

You should have bought a lottery ticket. Chances of getting through are the same as winning.

Nice one, @Compton_effect. Praise where it is due :)

Don't think the service of Telkom is that bad currently, you might still get the odd horrible experience, but the last few times I interacted with them was not to bad. On the other end I had some terrible experiences with ISP's who's first reaction is, It must be your line.

The can of worms is open ...... :)

Yes, and they know it can be impossible to reach Telkom to check so they take advantage of the chaos.
