Maybe I am jaded, but this irritates me. My screen gets hijacked, while I am typing an SMS, for however long it takes me to press cancel. Silly as it seems, I HATE THAT!

I pay every month, to get my airtime, get my data and SMS's. If you want to run this lovely little "competition" then let a machine
randomly decide who won the stuff and simply bolt it on. Less chance for scammers, less irritation for that person who is hiding under their bed, trying to dial the police because there's an intruder in the house and all of a sudden... PING You have 30 seconds to WIN!!!, YES OR CANCEL.

A split second can make a massive difference. Silly as that example might be.

Unfortunately you're in the minority.

They have done market research and the majority of people perceive them as lagging behind if they don't constantly run competitions. So that's what they do.

Don't blame them. blame the mass market.

There is the simple thing of adding an "opt out button" for those people who don't want to partake in these screen hijacking "games" of chance.

Also, "We want more competitions and give-aways" is not the same as "please take my screen over for a split second promotion". I am pretty sure the majority would be just as happy if they received an sms saying they just won R10 airtime in the MTN Winna Winna or whatever promotional comp.

There is a better way of doing this. And no way for MTN to duck and dive out of rationalizing this kind of behaviour. That is why I am not going to continue with my contract once it ends.

1 hour and 17 mins to late to win my 10gb data... :D

Bloody stupid idea from MTN.

They expect you to check within 30 seconds...it is idiotic. This competition makes them look like tools.

Congratulations! You've won 25MB Rush hour bundle valid for 1 hour.

Same. I wouldn't be surprised though if my normal data bundle is used instead of this data ... meaning that it is of no use to me.
