I have Telkom signal and i keep getting disconnected with an sms saying i am using out of bundle data. But in fact I have a few gigs left or more. Telkom helpline says my signal is weak and that will happen when the signal is weak. Has anyone experienced this. I am in an area with low coverage but I am getting at least 2 bars on LTE and 3 on 3g. I haven't had this problem before and I'm starting to also think it could be a bug related to me topping up with Mo nice bundles. It mainly happens on the LTE connection, when I switch to 3g its a bit better but also just hits these blank spots where i lose connection without the signal strength changing. I'm using a ZTE router the small one.

I'm at a crossroads because my main internet bundle is a cell 20 gig peak 20 gig off peak for R300 which the connection is fine but is ending in June. .I was considering the telkom deal of 70 Gigs peak with 50 off peak and the new router for 450. Or alternatively i could pay R2300 installation for a local wireless company to be my ISP with a 4 meg download 2 meg upload for R600 150 gigs a weak softcap. I'm on a farm where the lines were stolen years back so my options are really limited.

Would the telkom B525 router provide a stronger signal than a mobile wireless router?

It's because your connection is switching between Telkom and Vodacom roaming so once it hits the Vodacom roaming you get the SMS. You won't know it's roaming because it acts like the home network.

Maybe skip the middle man and just get a vodacom contract.

In your router - could you try and manually select Telkom as your network. It may work. Or invest in a router that allows a external antenna that you could point at the nearest Telkom tower. or a router that supports locking the 2300hmz Telkom signal, if you have signal in your area.

Or go with WISP.

Yea was my first choice, then they came out and could not get signal at my place.
Ended up getting 100gb+100gb from vodacom for R609pm

Working brilliantly for me :) Also, instead of the 6Meg line I would have gotten I now get average 18meg line speeds.

Won't work for serious gaming (due to updates) but for our netflix needs, perfect.

I suspect no RAIN coverage?

Yeah I got this as well on mo nice even with roaming turned off. It chowed my airtime so i just make sure to have a 0 balance.

This new Vodacom and Telkom deal is killing us.... The couple of days has been difficult to lock to only Telkom Mobile network... I guess it a technical error from their side... As they are trying to move over

Midnight to 6 is 6 hours. If you've 10Mbps speeds you can do 40GB per night.

On what?
I have Showmax/DSTV Now, Youtube premium and Netflix to use my anytime data then for the occasional thing I want that I cant stream I have another 100GB night owl.

Read plenty about their congestion issues so even though they eventually now show me as covered I would not bother for a couple more years at least.

I live on a plot half way up a mountain and from experience I take coverage maps with a pinch of salt.

Er, your gaming updates?

I'm also wondering if its just them picking on the people using Mo Nice bundles alot or a bug with the Mo Nice bundles.

That's a good deal I would take that but that price or promo doesn't seem to be available anymore?? at the moment I'm starting to lean towards upgrading with cell c and taking the 100 gigs anytime for R539. There tower in the area seems to have been upgraded as I get full LTE signal with them now, before only had a 3g Con to Cell C. Its expensive but Telkom has shown to be unreliable as of late so I have few choices.

That seems like a great deal. I would get a PAYG card and test it at various times to make sure you don't end up with congestion issues before getting a contract.

Not sure if that is going to work though even though the roaming is 65505 it still identifies as the same network with the same network name. Avoid it by forcing 2300MHz in a router as Vodacom does not have any 2300MHz spectrum.

I'm starting to believe this is a problem with Mo Nice Bundles. I tested last night with some night data I have left from monthly cap as to not use the Mo Nice data. I was not getting disconnected at all and my speedtests were solid. No message light on the router saying internet data has been paused just before 7 this morning (still within night data bundle). Yesteray during the day i counted 19 sms on my router saying my access has been paused.
