It's fantastic to be 24/7 on the net again - thanks iBurst!

Also, when I'm at the office in Highveld, Centurion, I get 100% signal and download at 120kb/s!!!! I had BT (British Telecoms) ADSL and never got speeds like that.

Cool to listen to Radio1 on streaming audio - really funky UK radio station (www.bbc.co.uk/radio1). CapitalFM is a mix between Fivefm & Highveld Stereo. (www.capitalfm.com) That was my two favourite radio stations when I worked in the UK.

Enjoy!

I hope your are still being paid in Sterling because you will need it for the extra bandwidth. ;)

Yep, still got my NatWest bank account - and they still send me monthly statements!

I think it's time for a holiday in the UK again - it's almost summer in Europe!!

the uk is dark in the daytime and people sleep in the daytime.

I love london in winter...

I didn't know that WBS had an office in Highveld, Centurion

dude BT are actually among the worst of british ISPs, they ARE the telkom of the UK. On 512 ADSL if you download 18GB in a month they will can your accoutn :(

If you used NTL you would be complaining about SA speeds :p

I didn't really like Radio1 - I missed 5fm & 5fm streaming didn't work most of the time. The only Radio1 DJ I remember was Zoe Ball... I should check my RBOS a/c...

strange, im uncapped, cant get decent streaming audio or downloads going, and everything times out.

but its good to see iburst trying to persuade some people on this forum that SOME people like it.

iBurst didn't persuade me in any way. In fact I have no contact with the company. I am just someone who got it 'cos it works for me and does more than I expected. I get good speeds, do p2p with it and I can't seem to experience more than 60% of the problems described on this forum. I have now concluded that the comments on this forum are in fact whingeing by people who are used to 155mbit SDH/ATM links at the office and now expect the same broadband experience from much slower technology, and who are also very impatient. The same kinds of people I encounter on the roads who see fit to drive 145km/h in a 60km/h zone and push everyone practically off the road.

Until people here can communicate in a civilized manner, I don't see why I should participate here anymore

not talking about you Kei, talking bout the original poster. In the last couple of weeks i've seen very new posters come online and preach on how brilliant iburst is, and then subsequently stop posting.

they ignore the facts staring them in the face and SOMETIMES retaliate, but then soon enough, never post again.

The fact is the South African public (as I've stated many times whilst i had sentech) is starved for true broadband at competitive prices compared to international providers. People tend not to see the bigger picture here, and rpm has come a long way to bring that message to the masses.

South African companies usually try and rip off the public by providing them "less for more", where you pay more for a lesser service.

Money is a very emotional thing (Im sure many would agree) and if you feel you're wasting your money and getting ripped off, by all means, get mad, shoot down people who are condesending and narrowminded, get the anger out.

The reason many choose to come to this forum is because it's impossible playing FPS games TO get your anger out. (oh, and the lack of enough luv from their women, if they have any)

Kei, if you take everything said here personally, you would seriously suffer with that, not only here but everywhere you go : http://www.nearlygood.com/video/reallifevsinternet.html

Let it roll off your back and participate (only if it is selectively, but do participate). The WORST thing you can do is retaliate and lower yourself to "their" standards. If you argue with an idiot, he will bring you down to his turf and beat you at it. (or something)

And you're thinking now... "what a hypocrite" yes i am, but I try to piss people off on purpose. :D

'noone', I work for a living - and don't sit in the office in front of my TFT screen the whole day. So if I don't post regularly, please forgive me!

Also, I don't work for iBurst - actually Realty1-Elk. I did work in the UK as a 3rd line support engineer, but decided on the plane back from the UK that I'm bored of IT and want to try something else.

Most people on this board sound like 'whingeing poms' all the time and, just because I said something positive about iburst, 'noone' decides I don't really have the right to post threads on this forum.

And the funny bit? 'noone' is not even an iburst subscriber.

Mmmm its seams that its only "politically correct" to bash wbs these days.
For me iburst is great. So good in fact that as soon as i can convince my partners that we need broadband at the office a 2nd utd is coming my way. Sure wbs have done some dumb things but its a learning curve for them too.

Noone wish you luck with your 192 adsl. Everyone must find the right connection for themselves luckily for me it appears to be iburst.

I echo that.

Kei, I don't wish to step on your opinion at all and if it works for you mate, fantastic.. but don't you see a problem with the above statement of yours? Are the people in SA really the doormats or worse, toilet paper of businesses that just don't give a **** about their customers?

If consumers from a normal capitalistic country experienced just 5% of the problems with WBS on this board there would be a negative media-storm, petitions, consumer rights groups, legal contract breach cases, civil cases for damages and false advertising, slander and more litigation, etcetera.

Well, this is not America and that is why I live here. At least in SA companies can make mistakes without being sued into oblivion. At least here I don't get sued because I stepped on someone's toe accidentally or sue someone if they sneeze on me
