good day all

I need your help here please I have a old I-mate jam that I wanna get going again. but I am charging via usb. now correct me if I am doing something wrong but when I plug the usb in at times it will tell me usb on the screen and version at bottom which I dont understand and then at other times it will come up with the i-mate screen start installing all the windows stuff and then just switch off and say usb with the version again. and the colour while it is charging is like a orange colour is that the right colour or what colour should it be? thanks in advance guys

I seem to recall the iMate JAM uses WM2003. This means it needs constant power, which it why it has a main battery and an aux backup battery. You need to make sure you charge the whole system properly before using it, ie both the main and backup battery need to be charged. If the system loses power it's equivalent to a hard reset and WM will start installing itself again.

Is suspect that's what's happening to you JAM. Make sure you charge it for a night and try again. Check the battery status and see that both main and backup battery have charge.

(And before the ignorant weigh in about 'doofus WM2003' - this WinCE/WM capability of supporting volatile-memory-only systems was specifically at the request of the independent hardware manufacturers - it allowed them to reach a new low price point and hence volumes. It's not an MS imposition but the very opposite, a case of listening to what IHVs wanted.)
