I-mate Jamin Vodacom MMS Settings

I set up my MMS settings exactly as is mentioned above. it connects to GPRS and all that jazz, says it's connected but then fails to download the message.

It used to work, now it doesn't anymore, and I didn't change anything before I got the error message. :(

okay there seems to be quite a few people with these kinds of hiccups .. i will post a step by step setup ... if it is followed to the tee you wont have probs:cool:

I'm having similar stupid problems. My Imate JAMin was working fine until earlier yesterday when it decided it was time to make numerous (read - like a thousand!!) calls - each one being no longer than a millisecond, actually i dont even think the calls connected... it was if someone was pushing the call key and immediately pressing the disconnect key, and then over and over and over and over....

anyways, after a hard reset its all working again, except now i have to input all my settings again... the big question is - do i install it with the local settings for Vodacom? is it 1.2 or 1.1 as last time i soft reset it while it was installing the cab files for the default settings - ie i pressed cancell when it asked what operator's settings i wanted to install...

it also left me with no mms settings though... so if at all anyone can help that would be lush!

i have been to the xda developers forum but i'm not a technowhizz so dont have a clue about things like that... but lets face it. i am never going to use half the things on here - eg the antivirus, the pdf reader, the games, etc, i use it for email, internet, texting and phone calls.. plus the odd work and excel documents, and then also taking photos...

what is the best solution? can anyone help me?

thanks,
christiaan

Ookedookee,

The most stable ROM for the JAMin is currently the ASerg AKU 3.3.12 ROM

Find it here
http://ifolder.ru/1218984
or here
http://rapidshare.com/files/18352736/AKU3.3.12.ASERG-us.RAR

Now, making a ROM update of this nature does present some warranty issues. If something goes wrong with your device, Leaf will likely charge you to fix the device, unless you can flash the original ROM back onto the device. So if you are going to proceed, do so with caution.

first unlock your JAMin/Prophet:

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Prophet_CID_Unlock

now, backup your current ROM

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Prophet_Rom_Dump

now install the most recent Radio Stack to improve reception and battery life
dl ftp://xda:[email protected]_ROMs/Prophet_G3_G4_RadioRom_v2.61.21.exe

run the exe and follow instructions on screen.

Now run the Aserg ROM.

Remember, you will have to Re-setup EVERYTHING! all files not on the SD Card will be LOST!
The easiest way to setup your internet/mms connection is to register at leaf and download the relevant .cab file to your phone and run it.

At own risk guys, but it should sort out a lot of problems. Note that a WM6 ROM is also available for your devices, but that its not yet stable enough to recommend.

small correction

the server address should be http://mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za not http:/mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za

okay here is what you do ..

go to you connections ..
now add new modem under MY WORK network
call it mms
select a modem - Cellular line GPRS
access point - mms.vodacom.net

no user name no password

MMS config.
Servers
server name - MMS
gateway - 196.6.128.6
server address - http:/mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za
connect via - My work network

Wap 1.2 normally works more consistently ..

If these settings dont work .. you havent followed my instructions :)
