A little sad at how blizz has killed crafting :( How do jewelcrafters make money these days?

I agree. With everybody being able to make just about everything they screwed up crafting completely.

Agree 100% was actually thinking about it over the weekend. Everyone can now craft everything. The prices on AH is retarded since you can craft the same things with a little more patience. I have completely given up on crafting. Only doing it for personal use. No way you going to make any money out of crafting :D

Wow would do a lot better if it stopping dumbing down everything. Some things need to be more complicated. Like creating an Archeage type crafting, farming and trading system :D

Is it worthwhile keeping your gathering skills?

i was making about 100K per week from selling the crafted trinkets and rings. admittedly I have 7 jewel crafters so obtaining the mats is a breeze. Have moved on to the upgrades now , but still very lucrative

Blizzard didnt kill crafting, they just adjusted it, if you dont adjust with it you wont make much money at all. You need to look what people are going to buy and make them before the time, or the window closes. That being said Jewelcrafters could use a crafted mount / pet or two ;)

Those items you are selling people can craft themselves. Which makes them pretty stupid :D All my crafted gear I crafted myself.

Said exactly that from the get-go. They severely diminished the AH too.

Not that I was into crafting myself, but I think that the whole AH economies etc, is one of the most fascinating features they pulled off in WoW.

Thats always been the case. Particularly with jewelcrafters. What you are selling is time. People dont want to be arsed to spend the time to level a profession / gather the mats. I dont sell via the AH , find it much easier to sell via trade chat , and having a built up client base people come to you.

I get that. Problem is: Previously you had 2 professions. And that was it, you crafted what you could and had to make money to buy the other crafting items you could not craft due to profession restrictions. That has now fallen away. I can do leatherworking with 0 leather working skill or profession. I can do BS without the profession. Same with JC, Alchemy and Enchanting. 2 toons on one server and you can do all professions.

It only goes so far though and if you have a gathering profession you will get about 35% more mats from your mine/ herb garden not to mention those you run into in the wild. Gathering professions will always be useful, but like you mentioned not required at this stage. Also its a question of scale , Currently have 11 toons generating maximum daily output (ie Toon craft plus garrison crafters) from their garrisons. You just cant do that without keeping at least two gatherers of each type ( ore, herbs, leather/fur.)

The fun thing is going to be when lfr in 6.1 puts the ilvl above the stage 3 craft ;) The window for profit from crafted items ends at that stage. Unless there are new profession patterns which are unikely to be able to be learned by garrison crafters.

i'm a casual gamer, so I like the new system. gives me a chance (with a little patience) to get what I want for gearing up my DK.
