Whatever happened to those Raleigh bikes with shocks and a y frame?

I need a bike with a budget of R2000.

I can't find any decent bikes with my budget :(

No wonder kids these days don't ride bikes, they flipped expensive!

What for exactly? A ride to the shop once a week or for Argus 2014 ? :D

In your budget I would stay away from anything with shocks, not worth it. Nothing wrong with rigid forks and will be more reliable. You can look at your local Sportsmans Warehouse at the Avalanch range. The AX175 is a very nice bike and as an avid cyclists, I personally am trying to buy one for the wife (near impossible to find the ladies frame in this bike).

The components on this bike are not too bad, actually I would put them in the same league as when I bought my mountain bike a few years back minus the fork which in this case is rigid. You could easily complete the Argus on this bike and do some non-technical mountain biking (or we like to call family routes).

Just make sure you buy the right size and rather error on going a size smaller than a size larger. Look at the medium size then work your way up. The small is more for ladies. I ride a medium and if I where any shorter I would be a Hobbit.

That actually looks decent and within range.
Thanks!!! Will check it out.

Yip it's for 94.7 challenge.
I still can't believe bicycles are now only for sport. What do the kids use these days?
Those Raleigh bikes I had as a kid were pretty decent and kind of what I'm looking for.
Seems bike riding is not a leisure option anymore.
