Hi, I was hoping someone can point me in the right direction or even help me. I do commercial and communal DStv and terrestrial installations and was asked by my one client to quote on a building to have WiFi installed.
The building is meant for student accommodation and they also need to connect to the campus's intranet for uploading of assignments.
I am looking for a company in Gauteng to supply me the hardware and possibly train me.

I'd wonder if it's even allowed to connect to their campus (intranet)network from outside?

Interesting

Well my recommendation would be getting an account with Uniterm and Scoop distribution, then pick up whatever antenna and router would be required to connect to the varsity network (they would have requirements for hardware I guess),and then for the network side some Ubiquiti Unifi access points and update them to the Unifi 3.0 software which would allow you to use a single machine (your laptop for instance) to manage any client meshes you set up

Cabling would be easy enough since you are used to the process basically

Cool thanx, I am looking for something similar to a WiFi hotspot for an entire building except they can not access the internet but rather just a specific intranet... I will give them a call, thanx PsyWulf...:):)

With Ubiquiti's Unifi devices you can run a mesh network. So if you find there is a gap in the coverage somewhere you just add another Unifi device in that area and it integrates into the existing network.

Basically all the Unifi devices connect to each other to create a single big hotspot.

Yep. They are midway in the pricey scale but they deliver well for their client space. The units also support passworded guest network and hotspot type setups with some prodding and/or programming

Also that Unifi management app where you can upload a plan of the building is bloody fun :p
