i got some problems with vista x32 build 6.0.6000, i have a microcom AD 2656 adsl router. i'm trying to change my network ID to use as a home network user, so when i change it and reboot it auotmatically goes back to business network why does it do this?

also when i try testing a certain port, i am being told that my web browser cannot see the port because my browser is using a proxy. I have been to all the places that i know of that says proxy in my settings, and it all says no proxy or the options has'nt been ticked which is off.

i have tried deleting all my broadband connections and setting it up again but i see there is always 1 left that i cannot delete not sure which one.

i also found that this morning i could not log into my router settings, so im not sure why that is

The transparent proxy is not new.

I don't actually understand what you mean by:
also when i try testing a certain port, i am being told that my web browser cannot see the port because my browser is using a proxy.

How do you test a port?

white lightening, are you using your router in bridge or NAT mode? In bridge mode you don't need to setup any port forwarding, however you still need to configure your Windows firewall to allow that port to be open to the Internet. If your router is set in NAT mode then you would need to configure port forwarding for that specific port that you're trying to test to forward it to your PC's internal IP.

A cool port testing website: http://www.whatsmyip.org/ports/

I do have it in bridge mode, this is the error message i get when i test a port.

Warning!

Port 58709 can not be checked. Your browser is setup to connect through a proxy.

It does matter which port i change it too, it still tels me that..i did switch my firewall completely off

oh and for some reason,,, i cant even get into my router settings any more... everytime i go 10.0.0.2 it does'nt come up. so i dont know whats happening here

Are you on at least SP1 or still pre-SP1?

pre-SP1 Vista is full of bugs and random problems with no explanations but that the software is bugged.

I remember when I installed vista without sp1, I had so many problems couldnt tell what is what.

So now I only install Vista with SP1 pre-integrated into the DVD, since then I had no such random problems.

This could perhaps be a case of that if you don't have SP1 ?
