I need someone to host a server

Hello, is there anyone who can help me please? I am looking for someone to host a server, with a 100meg backbone.

By the term hosting I mean a dedicated internet line located at some ISP, capable of providing up 100mb/ps of bandwitdh. Anyone PLEASE HELP!!

Niccia : I hate to disappoint you, but nobody in this country provides true 100meg connectivity... That would just be stupidly expensive.

But you'd be looking for somewhere like IS, Verizon, *spit* Telscum *spit*...

Basically all the Tier 1, and some of the Tier 2 ISPs

Niccia : As per my suggestion, you're gonna be looking at Verizon, IS, Telscum pretty much..

Hetzner host at Verizons Datacentre... and they'll give you a 100meg connection to your server but it will be HORRIBLY expensive..

about 20c per meg, in AND out...

It would help if you could expand a bit on what you want to do, the bigger picture so to say. These are clever guys you know ;)
 
Niccia : Sorry to disappoint, but I seriously doubt you're gonna get anything more cost effective than that.

Last time I had a colocated server at Verizon, I was looking at a monthyl bill of about R18k per month with 2 rented servers and about 90gigs transfer a month

OK, well, we are looking at hosting a game, with about 500 players.
 
What kind of bandwidth transfer does this game do per user?

500 players shouldn't need a 100meg dedicated connection...

What about asking SAIX games to host it?

Generally speaking, if there's enough interest in a game, they will host it, from what I've heard ;)
 
hmmm, i hope this isn't for an emu server... i hate those damn birds
 
Speak to IS - if it is a business opportunity for them to route more traffic through their them, you can get a hefty discount...

Is it a game you guys have developed, or an international piece of software?

at 0.5kbps per user, at max usage you're gonna need 250kbps for the server, so even a 10meg line is serious overkill, You could probably get away with a 1meg link actually.
 
0.5kbps sounds ludicrously low to me....unless you guys are playing chess online. Even 0.5KB/s is to low imo. I'd do calcs on 3-5KB/s just to be on the safe side.

Also, 500 players is a pretty huge operation and would require someone with decent technical skill.

It would be useful to know *what* it is we are talking about here. Chess? Battlefield? WoW?
