Would you say that it's cheaper (in the long run) to buy a new phone or to upgrade. I'm due for an upgrade. MTN is offering me this:

I don't want anything HUAWEI because I need Google play services. I'm still using my Hisense H12 lite handset but the battery is starting to drain fast.

Should I buy a phone and choose another cellular provider? I apologise for the dumb questions but I really don't know what to do (I'm clueless - that's why I'm posting here)
I received this SMS last week Friday:

Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.
Regards.

I'm also due for an upgrade and was offered the first one you showed at R169 x 24 for less than I had before so will just let the contract run out and have it as a monthly payment on my current contract and see what happens

Go prepaid. Can get a nice phone for R3 000 and you are in control of your life. Check the Xiaomi Redmi phones. Data you can grab month to month from Afrihost / Axxess or the various deals coming up now and then. Can even get monthly directly from MTN.

I don't sign contracts with these companies.
