I never finish

No this isn't going to be a thread about sex :p

Well after talking to a good friend about Life and all the rest of it, it dawned upon me that as of late I never finish anything. I'll start off motivated and all but 2-3 months in I lose interest never to be seen again and while this isn't a HUGE issue most of the time; it is something I would like to improve upon regardless. It's kind of important to me :o

Any one been through this and how did they "hack" their brain into being a finisher.

I'm exactly the same. It's f*****g annoying.

I have this problem too. I seem to be a jack of all trades master of none! But i'm determined to master painting/sketching!

I wish I could just find some magic money so I could stop working for a couple of years and get my art up to a professional level.

But at least it's good to know I'm not the only artist who suffers with this. I have a daily sketch blog where my goal is upload one sketch/doodle a day, so I spend at least some time drawing, as opposed to starting a piece and getting bored with it before I finish it.

I also have probably a dozen or so ideas for scripts/novels, 3 of which I can safely say would be really awesome, if I ever get around to finishing them. I should probably do the same thing as with my sketch blog and start a daily writing blog. I do have my normal blog, but even there I've got probably at least 10 unfinished blog posts waiting to be looked at...

Instant gratification is unfortunately a problem of our time. We no longer have to save for something (swipe the credit card), or wait for something to be in stock (order it online). As said before, break it up into smaller pieces.

Based on our analysis of the results, you show a

high probability of having attention problems

and a high probability of having hyperactivity problems

associated with ADHD

Don't do any recreational drugs and haven't had alcohol since I modded my last mafia game.
As to it maybe being ADHD, where would I get this tested? I'm very OCD but managed to get a lid on that.

One of the biggest signs of OCD is procrastination , If you have high motivation levels the one day and extreme low the next then you could very have some level of Bi-Polar but there really is no way for me to diagnose that. The best thing to do for you is too see a professional.

I have ADD and I have issues finishing projects that I start.

So I took up building a car. Spent R30k in the first 3 months, no turning back from there.

Took me 30months to build a car. At one stage I took a break for 6 months, due to a lack of motivation.

I think you just need to manage whatever condition you believe you have :p

1. break down tasks into autonomous tasks which can be ticked off,
2. task lists based on above,
3. time tracking via app on phone to help you proactively make your day more productive,
4. good enviro that encourages this helps.. at work in particularly. Warning: In places where doing so is 'different' it sets you apart and leads to you leaving them though
5. at home, make everything a project. sure its like crushing a roach with an atom bomb but it helps with all avenues of life as u consider how to manage things better and before you know it you end up managing teams too haha

I think the great thing is ticking of things on list is a sense of accomplishment..
