...That non of them are truly free, and it's all lies. They say "Ooh! Join for Free" But then when you do you find out you have to pay a subscriptions to basically do everything, for example you can't received/send messages without subscribing.
What's the whole point then of them saying joining is for free? If you join for free you can't do anything.
As well It seems like every SA dating website is linked with Datingbuzz. So if you register/subscribe for one you will be on all of them?

How else are they supposed to make money?

Also paying money in some ways eliminates anonymous trolls.

The pay ones are often just scams. Try okcupid.com, it's one of the rare free ones with no BS. Not too popular in SA though.
I've found online dating even harder than meeting people in real life, so don't expect anything from it.

And even worse, they make extensive use of Bot programs with beautifull pictures. My friends daughter (studies informatics), did a review and found some of the best refined BOTS running on this web sites. Actually one must only use his/her common sense - do you really think that a clever and good looking boy or girl will have to resort to websites to find a partner? Seriously, how desperate must one be to use this route.

Well, not all of them are that bad. I'm busy creating one at the moment, it something completely different, and will not the be the same as all the other sites. We will not be linked to Datingbuzz. We will not have bots. I cannot really say more than that, but we are going to try and make a big splash with it and do our best to stand out from the rest.
We are hoping to launch at the end of January...

I disagree. Dating sites are a fantastic place to meet people. If people fall for bots, and subscribe because a super model looking girl has said, "care to chat" then that person deserves it for being truly stupid.

I met my previous girlfriend on a dating site and we shared 3 great years together. Things broke down when she realised she was too young and wanted a whole bunch of c0ck, but nonetheless, it works well.

And I'm glad that it is subscription based. As mentioned earlier, it eliminates trolls and Nigerian drug lords creating profiles.

My only complaint...its very expensive if you only want a 1 month subscription. This is for Love2meet, the news24 site, which is linked to dating buzz. I also think having a link to dating buzz works well. It eliminates the need for multiple profiles on a different sites.

And before anyone judges the type of people who use the sites, I'm good looking, smart, have a good job and pretty normal ;). This stigma attached to dating sites is so old fashioned. I really could not be bothered to go to clubs, bars etc and try pick up ladies. The games woman play are pathetic. With the dating sites, woman know exactly what they want and making contact is on each others terms and times, no alcohol involved, no s******ing friends, no buffels ready to beat you down for unknowingly talking to their ladies. Most people who use them are tired of the going out scene and of peoples attitudes attached to be "cool".

Anyways, that was my little 2c. All the "cool" people can continue klapping chicks with their charnars boet!

Just go out and meet people. Dating websites are bullkak..
... says you who were probably unsuccessful and/or didn't get any interest? 2 of my friends met their wives on datingbuzz

How is facebook (a free service) or Google (another free service) making money? There are a million ways to monetize what you have. The most popular dating site in the US charges no fee's and have moderate to no advertising, yet they're a multi-million dollar company.

And paying doesn't eliminate the trolls. It just eliminates (most) horny men from bothering the ladies too much with "wanna ****?"

You fell pray to the "**** girls in your area" website huh?

+1

Yes, most of them require payment for access to any of the usefull features. Yes, there are a fair amount of people on there that come accross as desperate.

But having said that, I've met some lovely ladies through paid dating sites, and I've known a few others IRL that have made use of them. (And trust me, some of these are pretty stunning women - who just don't have the time or inclination to play pickup roulette at thier local watering holes).

One issue I see with paid dating sites (I must admit I've never paid for them) is that the person you're messaging needs to pay to reply. You don't know if that girl you're trying to get the attention of can even reply to you.

Why don't you just use this site? People with the same interest.

JamesX meet koeksGHT. koeksGHT meet JamesX . ;)

I totally agree

I met my gorgeous wife on a dating site as well - datingbuzz

I'd highly recommend using a dating site, especially if you're not that outgoing, or hate going to bars, or even don't get the time to go out to meet people - the fee they charge is totally worth it :)

The service is nice to use i had some "successful" relationships back in the days from these sites.
The only problem that i see you need to take the chance that the other person might just as well be a PC addict and never leave their chair.

Thus now dating a person that want to be online 24/7 might burst your bubble later in life.

Yeah those sites suck huge knob...don't go tell me it's free when I have to pay to send a message. twats.
They can make money through advertising if they became a popular free site.

I want to actually join one of these free sites and go out and find women who want NO strings attached. I am going to completely drop my standards and just about gooi if she is keen. I am sure there are some lonely ladies out there that won't turn down a meet, shag and leave? I know a friend who used to do this and was kind of successful. I always used to diss him and say I would never, but times have changed. I need to get laid and bars, clubs etc just don't do it for me. I have completely lost my mojo so I think this online thing is the last little flame before I loose it for good.

I still think we should open up a thread where losers like me can get help from some of the 'real' men on this forum .
