So there I am listening to music on my PC, singing away, but not really happy with the volume

So I check the volume control and max it, and check that its also set to max on media player, and I go check the sound card and download the latest drivers and reinstall but still not much joy

So I see there is also some software with the soundcard, go check that, fiddle here and there, quite a few options to play with, tweak the bass and all that jazz, but sound still not ear deafening.

So I decided maybe time to visit one of the pc stores for a new soundcard when I glance at the speakers and lo and behold there is a knob that says volume - I mean pleeez, 21st century, why would they make manual stuff?

Man I feel like such a toss, stupid speakers, but sound, sweet, going deaf now, damn silly knob.

:o We've all been there. Once forked out a small fortune for a new sound card because I was getting weird hissing noises.

Turned out to be that Windows XP SP1 plays music digitally - disconnected the audio cable and voila

you're right... there are just too many fiddly things to check for sound settings. I can't imagine how new computer users get it all figured out! :p

Manual .. er .. knobs ... are better than the software adjustments :/
