If you are in the Pretoria area, i can make u a copy....but its the upgrade option dvd, am booting with it now to see if you can install clean with no vista previously installed...will keep you posted

Just did a clean install on a spare 500Gb drive, updated and she hums....i am now, well chuffed...

Well, personally i think it was the realization that Vista was a mess and they are trying to make amends...their take is , and i quote :

"The Windows® 7 Upgrade Option Program enables licensed end users of selected Microsoft Windows Vista® operating system editions to obtain an upgrade license to the appropriate Windows 7 edition if the end user meets program qualifications.

If you received a Microsoft Offer Form as pictured here when you purchased your qualifying Windows Vista computer, you can order your upgrade on this Website at no additional cost to you.

Upgrades for qualifying orders will be shipped on DVD, beginning on the Windows 7 general availability date of 22 October 2009"

It wasn't free free, was it? I had to pay E26.30 for shipping for mine (i get an upgrade with my new laptop).

Not really. They give you updates because if they didn't, no-one would have bought Vista or Vista hardware for 3 or 4 months before Win 7 came out.
