I recieved my Windows 7 DVD today.....

I didn't pay anything for shipping...why would i?..i just registered on the website and they delivered.

Because they won't let you order without paying the shipping fee? Maybe the supplier you went through decided to waive shipping fees, but not all suppliers do so.

I received the upgrade option on a leaflet inside the sealed Vista64bit DVD. My supplier didn't do anything. I followed the instructions and viola!, it was delivered...methinks you got shafted out of R400..lol

Cool. Still a bit pricey, though.

True, but i don't know what windows 7 64bit will retail for now...i see the upgrade option as listed on Mybb is R1300.00...which is fair...it doesn't state if its 32 or 64 bit though

No, you're not getting it. Your supplier in that case was Microsoft. For the hardware related upgrades, you go through the hardware provider, in my case Lenovo. Google it and you'll see almost everyone is being charged shipping fees.

yeah i got the same

I registered a lot of dell equipment I purchased on the upgrade web site

They now want to charge me R300.00 per machine shipping and handling to get the packs here

I mean can't they give me a place to download the media pack from and then give me license keys I mean this is not brain surgery.

Yeah, I know it makes sense. I am talking about the general pricing - which is too high.

I'd pay R500.

Sorry...i missed your point.:o Guess i'm lucky then...that sucks. But, on the other hand, it now seems that the big boys ( Dell, HP etc ) also makes a profit from the upgrade option, so i really think MS and these folk have only themselves to blame for piracy....

Yeah, considering the minimum wage in larger sized companies is about R1700 ( i think ), paying an entire months salary for an OS seems rather obscure....:D
