The position requires the individual to be responsible for the day-to-day operational health of the platforms. This includes delivering uninterrupted services to the business through active monitoring and alerting, ownership and management of the Service Desk as well as maintaining ITIL as best practice across Technology. This position reports to the CIO and is part of the Technology Management Team.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Strategy: Set strategies for the area, including resource models, toolsets and services required, in line with the broader strategic direction
Relationship Management and Communication: Build and nurture effective relationships with technology colleagues and business people Engage and forge strong partnership across areas of Technology and the Business required for day to day delivery Team Management in line with organizational values
Delivery: Proactively ensure the operational sustainability and stability of systems ensuring SLA’s are met Drive issue resolution with urgency and clear communication to minimize impact and to ensure quality service experience for all systems users Communication and escalation to management of issues impacting production and delivery to SLA Production Management in line with ITIL best practice Provide MIS information specific to Technology Operational health
Risk Management: Provide input into systems related risk management strategies and risk mitigation Ownership and resolution of Risk items Technology Management of the annual Disaster Recovery exercise and Audits
Education/ Experience: 4-5 years relevant management experience within a technology environment 10 years working experience in Technology Operations areas ITIL certification Tertiary qualification in IT or Computer Science Competencies Required
Broad understanding of technology services and infrastructural elements Theoretical grounding in IT Risk Management and Control Frameworks In depth knowledge of the ITIL framework and oversight of ITIL processes People management Strong leadership and relationship management skills Communication skills - ability to communicate confidently and clearly with all stakeholders, i.e. peers and executive management Proven ability to identify and proactively manage risks Ability to work under pressure when dealing with and managing time critical production issues
Competencies Considered As Advantageous Financial Services experience Knowledge of external applications i.e. banking applications, pricing services, JSE Knowledge of vendor applications Exposure to IT Governance Frameworks such as COBIT Good working knowledge of UNIX & Windows environments Good working knowledge of virtualised environments Experience with cloud solutions such as Infrastructure as a Service
