I wish Telkom had their system set up so I could have specified when I had my daily disconnection.

Would have set it to midnight.

Just now I was busy with SSH managing a server.

Telkom did its daily disconnect, and - thanks Telkom - I've lost quite a bit of effort.

Another example of Telkom not serving the needs of the local IT industry.

How exactly do you expect them to do that? The connection shouldnt be reset at all actualy. Seeing as they are 24/7 connections, there is no point to dynamicly assigning IP's other than to create an anoyance and make it a little harder to serv webpages etc.

I've now started resetting the modem myself on a daily basis, at a convenient time - that means I will no longer be caught out with a reset while I'm busy on a download. I just wish they would leave the IP change until such a time as we reboot or manually reset our modems, just like a dialup connection. They claim it's for security reasons, but surely, as the customer, security is our responsibility. If we want to take the chance of being hacked, that is up to us.

I've written a small program that automatically disconnects at 23:45 and reconnects at 00:15. This way I don't have to worry about disconnects during the day, and I also don't have to worry about usage carryover from month to month.

Thats they pethetic excuse for dissconecting us i know i herd that one to , we all know its bull its just they dont wana loose they diginet clients , , this is so sad
