Page said he had sympathy for the new convenor of selectors, Joubert Strydom, who had to work with targets and quotas when making his selections.

"The transformation of sport has done much to transform society in South Africa, but I think it is high time we were done with targets - or quotas, as I prefer to call them," he said.

Question: Why does everyone jump to the transformation conclusion when they fail at something? Does Kallis' ommision from the team have anything to do with tranformation, or is it all simply his horrendous (Under)performance during the world cup? I remember my disbelief/disgust watching him labour at 2 runs/over when we were trailing by 380 runs against Australia. Surely he remembers the world cup. Or does he honestly think he had a good world cup!?!?!?

Agh you being stupid! How can one questionable and very highly debatable bad performance bring down a player with such an excellent record?

Why when Smith was going for a duck every game nobody blamed him?

Window dressing solves everything?

well some now claim he does as ordered etc etc but then in later games when he was -trying- to get a move on it, he couldn't pull it off enough which again shows its just not his style?

I'm not blaming him individually, it was a team effort afterall. The real question is why didn't Makhaya Ntini also cry like a baby when he was left out of the very same game in which Kallis showed ABSOLUTELY NO CHARACTER. He was simply horrible, and he and Hugh Page shouldn't turn this into a transformation issue.

If I was Kallis with all that "I" know and all "my" experienced ill be very pissed!

Why do we have to look at issues like this based on skin colour, I thought we were beyond that now? You're asking why a black player didn't behave like a white player.

How is a player that is "throwing his toys out the cot" for being left out of a format of the game where he is clearly at a disadvantage, an issue about transformation?

The selectors say he is being rested, but we all know that "Captain Slow" would not be able to score at above 150%

Kallis and anyone else that tries to extort their way out of selector's should be sacked.

its good that younger players be given a chance... i dunno y every1 is making such a big deal about this.. India have left out sachin tendulkar, saurav ganguly and zaheer khan (arguably their best bowler). If sachin tendulkar can be left out, surely kallis can? considering they are not even in the same league...
This world cup is about blooding younger players who are capable of playing at this fast pace.... Stop making this non issue an issue...

However i think it might be a little wrong to leave out Hall...
And Thandi may get bliksemed and not be fair on him considering he has so little experience..

Oh well I guess he dug his grave now, finish and kallis!:p

Ahhhhh very good point!!! This tournament is a barbaric form of cricket, hence they left out Kallis.

Excuse the hypocrisy.
