i10 oil recommendation

Double checking here, what is the oil grade to use for a ~2015 hyundai i10 1.1? also what brand would you recommend?

5w30? or a 10w40?

On Hyundais its at the back of the manual called lubricants or something similar. It has a chart for temperature and oil grade.

10W40 from memory, the brand doesn't really matter as much as long as you use a good quality oil - I'm partial to Shell Helix HX7 for my i30. They aren't exactly performance engines so they are pretty lenient with regards to oil, as long as the viscosity is within the temperature range and is changed as per the schedule.

I second what PhireSide says. Ideally you would use a full synthetic oil, as opposed to semi synthetic oil or mineral oil. Synthetics are slightly more expensive but are much better for modern engines.

According to the manufacturer:

Castrol EDGE 5W-40 is the Primary recommended oil for a HYUNDAI I10 1.1 (G4HG ) (12V 49KW ) 2008-

Check with Hyuandai as well what their oil costs. For example, I found it's cheaper to buy oil for my Ballade direct from Honda and it's the same oil as our Atos. Think the i10 used the same oil.

I would use Liqui Moly Longtime High Tec 5W-30.

But I only use full synthetic in anything.

5w30 is too thin for our climate if you are using it in an i10. If the vehicle is new-ish, like under 45 000km then go for it.

If not, then go 10w40. Summer is coming as well.

Yes, I used 5w40 Castrol Magnatec for the i10 when I still had it, remembered the oil can was still in the garage and went to go quickly check.
