Its time for a new car. I'm 25 need a well spec'ed, safe, and fuel efficient car. Scanned the market it has come down to these two: 2012 Hyundai i20 1.6 GLS or 2012 Hyundai 1.6 GLS. Which one do I go for?

Accent has two years extra on the service plan an a more powerful engine and is a bit roomier has slightly more standard features, so that would be my chosen. Just higher category/class vehicle. Both are pretty equally fuel efficient and safe.

Accent is a better car. i20 sits between an i10 and an Accent.

The i20 is a girls car. Take the accent.

Thanx guys looks like I'll take the accent, already booked the test drive

Don't get me wrong i like the hyundai's have recommended them to friends but the new Renault Clio was launched at good prices.
Maybe check it out just because its new and looks fresh.

What about the Rio? The Hyundais are great, practically the same as the Kia underneath but the Kia is a but better looking (IMO)

What would you recommend new for R150k? Vivo or Aygo I suppose?

No - neither one.

Start thinking a little more out of the box - nothing wrong with a Punto for that price and better still with 5 star NCAP plus 7 air bags a Fiat 500 is incredibly highly specced - blue tooth, electric windows P/S A/C 5.5 l/100 and decent performance.

OR

Look even further out the box at a new Citroen DS 3 - their Dealership /servicing problems have been sorted out and at least you aren't getting one of the Korean clones.

*sigh

A few years ago all we heard from you was VW (when you worked there).
Then all of a sudden Subaru where the best cars in the world (when you moved there).
Then strangely enough Toyota's were getting a solid recommendation from you (when you moved there).
And now, after a few years without a peep from you regarding Fiat all of a sudden we need to think outside the box and buy Fiat (because you now work there).

You have a ton of knowledge when it comes to cars but the trend above is very apparent... Whats next Tata?

BTW - I quite like Fiat as well but if it was my money and I had to buy new it would be Korean in that price range.

what about Toyota Yaris??

Fazda is at Fiat now? Wait for him to move to Hyundai then re-visit this thread. :p

I also don't understand this "girls" cars thing either. What's girly about an i20? What makes a car "girly"? If anything, the Fiat 500 is "girlier". Only insecure men would be worried about driving a "girly" car.

Naaah, I had 2 Fiats, liked them....but had trouble with both. Both of them needed new keys and it cost a shait load to make them. Not to mention, the towing cost to get the car to the nearest dealer (otherwise they don't know what the code on the key should be)...

My vote to OP: Accent

Most people seem to think that its a "girls car" unless it has a V6 lol.. Nothing wrong with a guy driving a i20, Corsa etc. There are exceptions however. Driving a 500 or Citroen Pluriel is a bit like an adult male walking around in a pink my little pony t-shirt. Sure there is nothing technically wrong with it but you look like a ...
