i3,i5 or 965BE......

I'm speculating here but the 790 chipset should also be compatible?

Yes it is and also has nice features. You can pick a decent 790gx mobo up for half the price of a MSI 890fx and then the mobo's also support
X-fire.Which means you will have spare cash for that second GFX card if you wish to go the X-fire route....

AFAIK, the 890FX is the only chipset that does crossfire properly. 2x PCI-E x16. The 890GX has an integrated ATI 42xx something GPU that uses up most of the PCI-E lanes so your options are limited to 1 GPU at PCI-E x16 or crossfire with two cards running 2x PCI-E x8.

But then you lose out on USB 3.0 and the 6x 6GB/s sata ports (10 sata ports on the 890FX)

I got myself the following recently:

Intel i-5 750 2.6GHZ
ASUS P7P55 LE Motherboard
2 x 2gb DDR3 1333
Seagate 1TB 32MB cache
ASUS 5870 1GIG
Liteon DVD writer
Coolermaster Elite 355 + 500W power supply
Keyboard Mouse MS combo (cheap bundle)
Samsung XL2370 LED 23" LCD

Total cost where R11 795.04

I got myself a nice 700 series mobo with USB3 and SATA3 support. Only 2 of each, but thats more than enough. Only some crazy SSD setup will come close to taxing 6 SATA3 connections anyway

When you say crazy you should say like 100k crazy :D.

Um, $139 :D I love going to the states on business :D
Cant find much on it in SA, a quick google only showed wantitall (puke) for about R2100. And not many online stores that I go to seem to have gigabyte boards. But I'm sure you can find an equivalent MSI/Asus board with similar features.
