i7 2600 Worthwhile "upgrade"

Currently running i3 2120 on older pc, used for gaming and some dev. Have a rather nice lappy i work on mostly.

I have i3 2120 and gtx660Ti, 16gb ram.
Is it worth getting a i7 2600?
My friend selling his for very cheeap.

Take it, it's still a good performer & decent price.

Make sure it will fit in your motherboard. Check if its 2600 or 2600k. The k version is a monster due to unlocked multiplier. It can be overclocked like crazy to outperform new CPUs at standard clock.
If its really cheap then it is a good CPU, just make sure you trust your friend enough that it is not damaged, etc.

Oh yea for sure it'll be a huge upgrade to the i3. 2600 still holds up just fine.
