Has anyone found one or gotten away with sending the phone back after flashing a non-stock Rom?

No, but you'll need a usb jig to reset the binary count and load the stock rom which you can get on xda forums. That should be it.

I see you can backup the phone with clockwork mod. Wonder if it restores the csc file.

I sent mine in, Flashed a custom rom and bricked the phone. Took 3 weeks but got it back @ no cost.

I made a backup and restored it with CWM which seems to have kept everything in place.

Will try another Rom and see the result in a few.
