Who thinks that a stand alone 384kbs uncapped package, for R500-R600 would be an excellent idee for a new offering from iBurst?

I say Yes please :D

I will go as far as R499, not a penny more and not as a "VAS" cr@p.

Stand alone only.

quick, edit your post, the prices should be R400-R500, we don't want to give iburst the wrong idea here :p

I wouldn't mind paying for a 384k service from iburst but sadly, it's highly unlikely that iburst would offer anything like it any time soon.

OK!!
I know allot of you are going to flame me for this, but here is what I think iBurst uncapped packages should look like.

384kbs uncapped (limited to 15gb monthly usage) R580
512kbs uncapped (limited to 20gb monthly usage) R880
1mbs uncapped (limited to 30gb monthly usage) R1280
1mbs uncapped NO LIMITS R1699

Firstly I know that if a package is limited that its not truly "uncapped"
But you have to understand. If every user gets to have an unlimited offering, its gonna negatively impact the network.
We really don't want to be like screamer with a max download speed of 10kb due to an excess of users raping the network.

Secondly I know everyone wants to have cheap uncapped but if you really think about it these packages would be the cheapest on the market!

Think about this, telkom line rental around 140 rands.
SAOL 384kbs uncaped Inc adsl line rental 699 that adds up around R800+ a month.
They have a cheaper offer for R500 a month Inc adsl line rental but it is also limited to 15gb a month

This is truly the cheapest uncapped offering Ive seen for adsl and it also comes with a catch.
To get those packages from SAOL you have to get your adsl line from them, so it actually "binds" you to them.

Ive been studying business and economics for 2 years now and at the end it always comes to a compromise.
Sometimes you have to see things out of a business point of view. You can't give suggestions that only suits you and not the business'.
They need to get something out of it too. . .

Well thats what I personally think.

I have had my hiccups with iBurst in the past, but we should stop complaining about everything and start doing something about it.
Maybe giving better ideas on how they could improve . . that is if they would listen . . .and answer their phones . .

Sigh, what the future holds for iBurst is anybodies guess . .

Uh... can I recommend taking a look at SAINET 384k uncapped including line rental, this will be from next month. Understand that the current crop of uncapped 384 adsl offerings from Screamer and DC are also getting faster as more people on them are getting used to having uncapped and not trying to download the interwebz onto their pc's. The more ADSL ISP's offer this type of package the better the overall speeds will be as the data hungry will be less concentrated on individual networks and people will start only downloading what they want.
Sorry guys but I moved from IWorst in December after they commented "the mass of 64k downloader's continue to conpromise our network" or something along those lines.

What grinds me is that iBurst still thinks 64kbps & 128kbps is an "VAS" in 2010.

Even 384kbps is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

When Telkom comes out with 8Mbps & 12Mbps lines, our 1Mbps modems are gonna look like Atari consoles.

/snip

Compared to screamer 384kbps uncapped wimax with no limits at ~R675 a month?

All prices that I uses as a reference Includes telkom line rental + adsl rental and isp cost and should be used only as a guide line.
Because I dont even have a voice line thats why Im using a Wireless internet provider. So thats why Im including it in the prices.

You use the word uncapped then you also use limits of 15 to30 gigs if you put those weak limits on then you're not speaking about uncapped.

You think I dont know that? The limit is only there so that people wont rape the networks and negativly affect the rest.
But if you have reached your limit it wont be hard caped but R59 rand per gig after limit or topup can be implemented. ITS JUST AN IDEA!!

would be interesting to see what r00igev@@r thinks of this

No no no no no... BAD JOOJOO!
This is not the way to start, it's like when they started referring to data as "bandwidth" and we all know how much confusion that has caused amongst the internet users. Lets not screw with naming conventions, yes, I like the idea, but PLEASE do not offer capped internet as "uncapped" otherwise we'd be breeding BS.

Agreed ...Uncapped = no cap. There's no need to confuse and rob people, the last idea to charge for 64k throttle was dum enough as it is.

Maybe studying Business has made me think like them . . with hidden clauses in the contracts . . lol

I understand what you guys are saying but affordable uncapped offerings are still a long way off in South Africa.

Gosh 1mbs uncapped unshaped for R300 a month would be heaven. . .drool

The 384kbps uncapped package will be just another way to oversell the existing bandwidth and milking more money from the users.

How about an unshapped package???

Don't even go there.........
They put in so much effort to shape P2P without realizing there are much better alternatives out there.
Maybe it is time to educate the masses and really screw up their network

if you are going to offer an uncapped solution make it uncapped
otherwise just offer a 20gb or 50gb account.

I am on Screamer as well, and their uncapped has effected their networks greatly, I wished they never introduced it cause my downloading and internet is slow and crap 10-30kbps. Their network simply cant handle it, I cant imagine how iBurst will even handle it and the fact is their network wont be able to handle it either from what I gather. If it goes same was as Screamer and it effects my internet speeds I am going to cancel my iBurst account. ISP's really need to becarefull in implementing services like this.
