iBurst Alternatives ... any ideas ... ?

Hi guys...

I have recommended my sister in-law looks for an iBust replacement before the 1st September so she can cancel her month to month... she has been with them for 3.5 years and this last year has been an absolute nightmare. On again - off again hit and miss affair. iBust just is no longer tolerable. The helldesk I suspect has been the final nail in their coffin. Absolute crud they come up with.

I was thinking Neotel or perhaps Cybersmart (because of the low top-up costs).

Does not do any gaming... so latency no problem. She works from home and needs ALWAYS on RELIABLE internet access.

Any suggestions... ?

It depends... between 2GB and 5GB on average. So far this year the minimum has been 580MB with the max being 7.2GB... and quite a bit inbetween.

She was on the 3GB iBust thing, found out last month about the package changes in April and is now on the 5GB iBust package for the same price.

Needs it to be consistently reliable. She needs to know that when she connects it will stay connected at a decent speed... not the see-saw hit and miss she is having now.

* * * * I have just spoken to her... and she says that from October she should not need more than 3GB per month...

I'd love to see if there is something I've missed, but you may want to check out Neotel's offerings.

Any alternative is better than IBURST! They are absolute rubbish. The speed is crap and the service is even worse.... I cancelled my IGO over a year ago and they still billed me every month... for over a year Now they say I owe them over R5000... I dont usually get so worked up, but that company in my eyes is the worst.

You're quite right. iBurst sucks but when you go through a reseller you
can score OK. R450 for 3GB + uncapped 64k afterwards is better then
everyone else, unless you really need 1. P2P. 2. Online games and low pings.

However even with P2P, you're still gonna waste more bandwidth (uploading).
While MegaUpload/RS/Imageshack's Torrent2HTTP service/TorrentService/Frk
allow you to download direct from http servers at full speed.

Hi and thanks for the input.

She has signed up with Cybersmart this morning. R350ish for a 3GB thing including ADSL rental and a free router. Could not get anybody from Neotel to answer her few questions and Telkom proved to be frustrating beyond endurance. Tradepage wanted to sell her iBust ADSL!!!!!!!!!! Whooooooo way to go Tradepage!

So another iBust bubble burst.
