Hey guys,

I am starting this thread here, as I am pretty sure it is an iburst problem and not CODMW2.

I connect to my desktop router via the ethernet port. When I create and connect to the PPPoE connection through my pc, then CODMW2 keeps on saying "Connecting to IWnet...", but when I connect it on my GF's pc and share the connection, it works... Shame thing happens on her pc when I try to play CODMW2 online and I am connected on her pc.

Anyone else had this problem?

Something is really wrong with iburst atm. I haven't been able to play wow since fryday and my MW2 has been saying that it is preparing to launch for a long time now. I can't use wow matrix either or use windows update...

EDIT: I'm 99.9% sure that there isn't a igame server for MW2 seeing as there is no dedicated server support for MW2

wow. Just as I made my post now suddenly wowmatrix and windows update works. Still no luck with MW2 and haven't tried wow yet.

Try deleting these files or rename them...
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\iw4mp.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\zone\english\mp_playlists.ff

Then you right click on the game in steam and click on properties. Click on local files and then click on verify integrity of game cache. This worked for me.

Yip got the same problem. It seems to be when Iburst changes signal towers, steam still holds your prevoius connect IP and therefore won't let you connect (connecting to IWnet).
You can do as SharkBait says by renaming your exe file, but this caqn get a bit tedious after a while(already on # 43 of iw4mp.exe rename at nearly 4mb per file).
what i have found that works for me is close your steam app, switch off both Iburst modem and your router for 30 secs, switch both back on, restart steam and try again.
MW2 won't be on igame as there is no decicated servers for it as it picks a player as a host for each game.

firstly, there are ZERO dedicated servers for MW2. Secondly, Mine works ok most of the time, but from time to time it completely stuffs out. Then sometimes i dbl click to start and can wait up to 15min before game eventually starts. Sometimes, nothing happens. Then i do the defrag thing, and check file integrity. Then restart also helps sometimes.

Basically tho, Steam and IWNet have conspired to totally $((%@@#$ up an awesome game. Yes Iburst not the best tool for gaming, but what can you do?

Sharkbait just double check before you purchase a flat panel, I was told it would improve my signal and it ended up being worse. I have now been told it need to be erected on a 3m pole on my roof at a cost of R1,150.00.

R1150 to erect a 3m pole? Is it a golden pole? Seriously, that's insane. I mean, I bought a second hand 15m steel lattice tower for R2000. 3m pole shouldn't be more than R200-R300 tops. Steel pole probably even cheaper. Way cheaper. And then another R50-R100 for a bracket and some rawl bolts and voila.

R1150, someone was/is ripping you a new one.

that includes the R700 labour and 10m cable for something that might or may not work!!

DIY. Four rawl bolts to fix bracket to wall, to U-Bolts to clamp the pole to bracker and voila. If you have seriously windy area, maybe use stay wires. But R700 is insane. Also remember, the longer that cable, the more signal loss you suffer. So rather move the modem as close to the pole as possible, to keep cable short as possible.

Hell, where do you live? I'll come do that.

Thing is, I did contact Iburst and they would have came out to my place to test it. On the friday that they would have supposedly came, nothing. Phoned them and they said that they will phone me back in like 5mins, still waiting for that call.

I already have a pole. Just need to get the cable and maybe do it myself...

DenSweep, didn't mean to offend you, but I will be looking for someone to test the lightening protection when/If I install the pole.If you keen I'll pay you after a successful lightening hit.
Sharkbait, they came to my place on Friday sorry, all they do is climb onto your roof with an Iburst modem and laptop to check for signal then give you a R1,150.00 quote.

OMG. It's cheaper to shut up and sit in the corner and sulk.
