I have an account with dyndns.org who track my dynamically assigned IP and resolve it to the address inenergy.dvrdns.org where I'm hosting a Drupal site: inenergy.dvrdns.org/inenergy/

Problem is that a couple of my users, who both use iBurst, occasionally have connection problems.

There is a message which says 'Waiting for inenergy.dvrdns.org' without ever loading the web site. Or else is says 'Loading' until it finally says 'Done' and presents a blank page.

Has anyone had similar issues?

Is it iBurst? Is it Dnydns.org? How can I tell? Would it be better to sign up with a South African DNS service? Are there any free such services?

Perhaps they can try typing in your ip address directly and if it still doesn't work then you know that it definitely can't be dyndns.org

Hi Rinkhals,

stevovo is correct. Dyn does the dns for your hostname inenergy.dvrdns.org. So, when someone queries for your hostname's IP address, we return the current IP address and they then navigate directly to that IP address. When someone experiences trouble accessing their hostname we recommend reviewing this knowledge base article "Why can't I connect to my server?": http://www.dyndns.com/support/kb/why_cant_i_connect_to_my_server.html

Don't forget that Dyndns is NOT a local service, and if you are capped then the service will not work.

Since no traffic goes through our servers, bandwidth cap has nothing to do with us.

Hi Charles.

The problem is sporadic. Sometimes the user can connect with no problem, sometimes the browser just says "Loading..." (this accounts for my tardiness in following this issue up; it simply had not resurfaced)

It does not appear to be a Dyndns issue as the browser remains stalled when accessing the server from the IP address: http://41.246.205.23/inenergy/

I think it's a cache thing, possibly through a proxy (I'm not really sure how iBurst functions on this) .

I don't think its the browser's cache as this seems to be the same for other browsers on the same machine.

Right,

I have another user, also using iBurst who is having the same problem.

If I reboot the Modem/Router then the connection is restored.

I think it must be an iBurst issue.

Anyone know how to force the iBurst proxy cache to clear (if that IS indeed the problem)

There are currently issues related to DNS at the moment on the internet due to the SAT-3 problem.

I'm still having this problem.

As I say, rebooting the (DLink) modem sorts it, but it's a pain...
