Hi All

Just wondering if anyone out there uses iBurst for gaming? I dont play fps games so latency isnt THAT important but i need to know if you get pings of under 500 on intl servers. Mainly play NWN and find that it is playable with anything up to a 600 ping time, also getting tired of dial up.

any help would be appreciated

FP

I play bf2 with iburst and get latency ranging from 65 to 200 depending on the time of day, this is on the local sgs servers.

Screen shot please!!!!

I played BF2 on a Canadian server last night with a ping of 300 and it was reasonably acceptable, so I imagine a 60-200ms ping would be quite acceptable.

Thats Like Impossible, i tried to play BF2 on SGS servs and all i get "There is a problem with your connection" then naturally i would shout "no $h1T i am in South Africa after all...". but its probably coz im capped, definately unplayable though.

I play Warcraft 3 over the reason servers with a ping that hangs at about 100, so no hassles for me.

Play WoW (EU Realms) with Iburst connection, average btw 500 - 800 ingame. Marginal packet loss, but most certainly playable. :D Going to be trying a VPN service to see if I can stabilise the latency.

I play WOW using iBurst and my own local unshaping proxy. I average about 550 ms - 650ms. If anyone is interested in testing my proxy, please contact me.
More info here...

Online Gaming and an iBurst is largely dependant on your tower.
I'm on Roodepoort and I can play most things fine.
On the other hand is you are on Northcliff, you shouldn't waste your time.

I played Guild wars and UT2k4 and it was fine in the south (forest hill tower) until I moved to Hyde Park :(

I play BF2 on local SGS servers and play wow on US servers
BF2--> +/-60-200ms
wow--> +/-400-700ms

This is only ofcourse when the networks are working fine. Sometimes BF2 is a no go....and other times wow is a no go. In november there was almost 3 weeks I could'nt play wow because of massive packet loss to the US servers. BF2 worked fine during that time though :)

I have also noticed a very strange thing. It is utterly impossible for me to play BF2 when running the UTD of USB. Through Lan it works fine. Everything else works fine through USB except BF2. So if some of you wana try BF2 and get "there is something wrong with your connection" error when login in try it through lan. Don't even try FPS games if your signal is'nt strong and u get good latency to the tower!

I wonder when wbs is going to launch those game servers Iv'e been hearing about.

Well I just lagged out of dota...
First time it's happened I'm sure it's just a one time thing... I hope its just a one time thing.

LOL if you expect your iburst connection to be perfect for ever and ever you got another thing comming. And it's not just iburst....when connecting to overseas servers there are many hops over several networks, if any one of them have a error you can experience lag or disconnecting. :(

OTP, but I am trying to get VPN to work. My setup is as follows iburst->netgear WPN824 -> PC (via ethernet). VPN connects just fine and I can ping and tracert. I can log onto WoW, but cannot access the realms.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

dota = warcraft 3's baby that's become widely played and it's called defence of the ancients...

W1z4rd , I used to get teh same with latency averaging about 100 . This is normally only after 7pm in teh evening , otherwise latency was crap.

Still wouldnt recomment Iburst for gaing , there is a lot of lag spikes and dropped packets

Packet loss do happen but if your signal is good and if iburts network has no problems there should be no iburst related packet loss. for FPS i would recommend ADSL
