I have an iBurst UB Modem and a Mac. I have endless problems where the modem disconnects itself after awhile and I have to replug into the USB and try connect again. Sometimes it can happen every 5 minutes. I read up that this happens less with the Ethernet iBurst modem. Can any other Mac users clarify this. Also with my iBurst modem, whenever I try Skype Video, it disconnects straight away. Is this a USB Modem or an iBurst issue?

Thanks in advance, for any help.

p.s. I am on 10.5.8 and have tried every different driver for the USB Modem. All produce the same results.

I've had this problem for a while. It occurs when there is at high packet use and or DNS requests. I suspect it is the driver and it occurs in Leopard and Snow Leopard. They have never fixed the problem neither updated the drivers and I doubt it will happen. Also, it has nothing to do with the signal strength. It can occur anytime, anywhere. I am at the point at looking at getting Cell C as it is cheaper and more reliable.
