Here's a thought...

According to the Skype EULA they may use your PC processor & bandwidth to route calls between Skype users

3.3 Utilization of Your Computer: Skype Software may utilize the processor and bandwidth of the computer (or other applicable device) You are utilizing, for the limited purpose of facilitating the communication between Skype Software users. Skype will use its commercially reasonable efforts to protect the privacy and integrity of the computer resources (or other applicable device) You are utilizing and of Your communication, however Skype cannot give any warranties in this respect.

I have also noticed that this is mostly true for PC's not behind a firewall.

So, how much bandwidth could be eaten by Skype sitting there pretty and idle, with me hosting a mini Telkom exchange with my little iBurst modem, I am wondering?

Isn't that just referring to communication between your skype account and skype servers.... doubt they will be using your pc for other skype users...

Skype uses the concept of a 'supernode' where any node on network can become a router for other Skype calls.

But chances are slim that you will be deemed a supernode with limited throughput.
