I recently installed vista on three pc's at home. I set up a wireless network using an access point. One of the pc's is connected to iburst, and i have setup internet sharing on it for the wireless network.

But as soon as i connect the pc ,that is sharing its internet connection, to the network the iburst modem goes crazy. It shows upload and download speeds of over 1mb/s on the iburst terminal, and i cant open any internet pages.None of the pc's are updating or anything.

I was capped earler this month, but ever since I set up the network it shows that i have gone 4GB over my cap this is impossible(its only been 2 days at capped speeds?)

does any one have a solution to this? or an idea of what is happening?

Windowsupdates on Vista disabled?

Are you sure your PC's doesn't have any malware/spyware installed?

Running any antivirus updaters?

Its all disabled, no malware. Fresh installs without internet yet cause of problem. Thing is the modem is maxed out but its not downloading anything, but it adds to my cap. 4GB in 2 days while capped?? Can surf internet as soon as i unplug the network.

Make sure that you have WPA encryption on your Access Point. WEP encryption can be cracked in a matter of seconds and thus opening your iBurst up for anyone to use.

Just to confirm... you have a true access point right? Adhoc internet connection sharing is the worst possible idea!

yes using a true access point, with encription. Its not ad hoc. Have had this working with xp on all pc's though.

ya looked at that already, i can do the networking no problem, ive dont it lots of times, with internet sharing. its just now the iburst modem goes crazy and says its donloading at >1Mb/s costantly when nothing is running that would be downloading. and im capped which means i shouldnt even be able to come close to downloading >4GB in 2 days!!
