Hello.

I have a few questions. I have been stuggling to get a decent signal strength from my desk and the 3m cable on the antennae does not seam to help. I tested the iburst signal from the other side of my house and it is way better -76db.
I cant however move my pc and desk to this side of the house.

Can I sentup the iburst URD modem with a Wireless Access Point? In the confirguration below

PC (My Desk) -- WIFI Adapter <--------------> WIFI Access Point -[Ethernet]- Iburst UTD (Good Signal Strength)

Does the WIFI Access Point need to be a router and can I use this:

IMO, yes, and yes. I have a linksys WRT654GL (pretty much same specs), and all my PCs, wireless or not, connect through iBurst.

Works a charm. :)

Even easier but less sexy....save yourself some money, buy a really long network cable.

Yeah, that was my first choice but then distance and areas I would have to negotiate a network cable through are very tough. I also dont like cables hanging around.

buy an el-cheapo Mecer wireless router - I'll get the model number later today and post it here.

Has: Built in Firewall, can automatically connect your ADSL or other PPPOE device modems (including iBurst). Has all the features of normal Wireless routers.

Just check back later or if you want I can PM you the model number.

KingMonty, I have had a few very bad experiences with the Mecer Wi-Fi routers. Practically, what happened is they worked for a week or so, and then stopped responding completely. Pings on a local network with computers wired directly through the router were somewhere in the region of 200-300ms. So I obviously returned it to the supplier, and got another one thinking that it was a localised error. But it seems like it wasn't. The same thing happened only 2 days after I installed the 2nd Mecer. After that, I got a Canyon Wireless router, and haven't hada problem since. It has been 2 months, and clients haven'y complained once.

I am running a Gigabyte B49G at home, and also very happy with that router.

Wireless Broadband Router with 4 port fast ether switch.... cost us around R300 and has not given us a single hassle ever.

I recommended the same router to someone else and they've also never had any issues.
