Hi Guys,

It seems the DSL lines in my brother's area (Parkmore, Sandton) have deteriorated to such an extent that 25 man raiding is impossible.
I have heard whispers on the forums around using iBurst and a fixed IP for Wow, please can someone tell me what the latency is like or how reliable the service is? Is there an iBurst representative on the forums that we can speak to about it?

What we would ideally like to do is test the service for a couple of days, and see if the latency is agreeable.

Reached the end of our tether here, Telkom are not responding or attempting to help us fix the line in any way.

Any wireless tech is NOT reliable.

The DSL Lines deteriorating seems a bit unbelievable. Do yourself (or your bro) a favor and get a 1gb prepaid from Web Africa and test it on there.

If it's truly the line then I'm surprised you're not up Telkom's butthole to fix it... :p

My old alliance guild has two people using iBurst with fixed IPs and they had no problems. However, the literally lived a couple of houses away from the iBurst tower.

We have been using unshaped for yonks now, usually if there is an issue Telkom have been able to sort it out in the past. But it seems now that they are unable to find the source of the problem.

i live 2 streets away from the tower
and 25 man raiding is too unstable iburst just drops signal to 20% for no reason..then u have to reboot modem to get full speed again

I use Iburst with some decent success. I have a fixed IP thanks to Shawn Green (dont know who took over from him). I also ave an external antenna.

I regularly do 25 man raids and my latency is between 350-700 but its stable with hardly any lag spikes.

The only time I have issues is when the whelps spawnin Ony and all the dps aoe the crap out of them. other thank that I would say my connection is pretty good.

Um... trust me on this, iBurst is NOT worth it... I had it for almost 2 years and every day the latency was bad, even after I got the static IP nothing changed, I had 100% reception and the most powerful uni-directional areal pointed directly at their transmitter.

I had an average of 3000ms in 10 man raids, it was impossible for me to dps, heal or tank.

25mans were out of the question.

DONT GO FOR IBURST! trust me.

Damn I must be lucky!

So if you dont reccommend iBurst, then what do you reccommend and what kind of latency do you get in 25 man raids?

Maybe its time to change...
