Okay, I am a newbie to the internet in SA. I am from the UK and had no problems downloading torrents.

I am on Iburst and for some reason even though the torrent shows plenty of seeds it does not down load. And thats on all 20 or so torrent sites I have.

Anyone have any ideas what I need to do.

As I said I am new on the forum and if this question has been asked before I apologise but could someone please point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Hi welcome to the forums and welcome to the internet in South Africa!
Wbs have a shaping policy which effectively "blocks" all p2p protocols. Basically how they do this is limit the number of peers you can connect too. If you look at the details of a torrent you have opened you will see that despite there being 100s of peers and seeds you will only connect to 3 or 4. If you are lucky these will give you some speed but usually you will get 1 or 2KB/s from each and a total of around 3-4KB/s.
You have two options. PM slimothy and ask him for details on torrent flux. This is a very effective work around but currently seems to be down. Your other option is to get yourself access to a proxy server and "sockify" your p2p client. Details here.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the helpfull information Daveogg. I will give both options a try.

Thanks again.

Dont try too hard tonight, Slimothy's torrenflux seems off line for an upgrade and the openweb proxies are being reconfigured to find a more stable platform. Maybe try tommorrow

I am also new to iBurst, and when i first got it, i got a program called torrent search. This program shows if a torrent is "healthy" or not. I obviously chose the "healthy" ones and found that they downloaded really fast, 100kilobytes+. You should try and get the program, it really helped me get the right torrents.

Torrents can be made to work well on iBurst. I've had a very good month and I am capped and I am still downloading torrents quite happily.

PM me if you want to know how. Or you can ask Slimothy
