Right .. so .. yesterday about this time, authentication started failing, and then the signal dissapeared. It came back at about 12H00 if i remember correctly.

And .. today, the same thing happens, smak in the middle of a very intense net-meeting.

Now ... I want to freaking know why the heck they don't warn me about this?
I am really getting tired of the shoddy service levels.
YUCK!

Anyways ... is it just me? Any other peeps in centurion experiencing this?

If you are expecting iBurst to warn you about possible service disruptions, I am afraid you are asking a tad bit very much. SA ISP's still have yet to master "Customer Service 101"

Last night couldn't do squad, no PS2 online nudda, nothing, then this morninng at 5:00 am it was up and running again.

Don't know much about 2day as I'm at work.

I see PMBD is currently experiencing the same problem

13/04/07 Base station degradation 13/04/07 Pietermaritzburg iBurst subscribers NORMAL IN PROGRESS
Details Pietermaritzburg intermittent connectivity due to backhaul errors

Nudda about Centurion

The Centurion tower has been pathetic for some time - completely overloaded esp at peak business times (eg morning and late pm). Have regularly experienced speeds comparable with dialup yet with good signal - then late at night it improves.
A little better recently - maybe they expanded some capacity (but not enuf).

Thats normal Wednesday night maintanence from the sounds of it.

Of course it might have just crashed around the same time, about as likely :)

Today they are all farked again. Authentication problems all over the show

Mine authenticates, but can do nothing. So I decide to phone Helldesk ... God help me, as I try to avoid them.
Their message states that they are experiencing problems, and that their resolution time has been extended with another hour. Get through to an operator (of what I don't know).

Me: "When are you going to sort out your problems"
Him: "It is already been fixed"
Me: "No it is not, and your stupid automated message states it as well".
Him: "Can you please go to Start -> Contr ..." (I cut him off)
Me: "I am connected via a router. What do you want me to change?"
Him: "Let's change your MTU t ..." <Click>

Bunch of farkin retards!

LandyMan......

I still get couple of packet losses here and there but not that bad.

156 packets to google

Code:
Ping statistics for 72.14.207.99:
    Packets: Sent = 156, Received = 144, Lost = 12 (7% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 299ms, Maximum = 626ms, Average = 450ms

Soweto B/S is working fine, both local and international

20 packets to their primary DNS
Code:
Ping statistics for 196.30.31.193:
    Packets: Sent = 20, Received = 20, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 49ms, Maximum = 253ms, Average = 75ms

Both browsing and d/l looks fine

Yes, last night I couldn't login and this morning the same problem. Thank goodness I've got a Huawei E220 modem as a backup!

I refuse to phone iBurst helpdesk - they are the dumbest people on this planet.

I dont think they are for the above internet user.:p

I guess it boils down to the fact that when you pay your staff well, then you will get good material. :D

When I was contracting for Reuters in London, they made a deal with me to help out @ the helpdesk for a month. I did not complain, because they offered me the same pay I got as network support engineer (+ there were some hot English women that needed my attention :)).

After three days, the other engineers complained that they've got nothing to do.... ;)

kingrob, did they complain they had nothing to do because you never actually passed on the problems? :D  ala iBurst?
