Hello everyone,

This is probably the first day that I'm negative about Iburst. Normally, my service works fine and I have no hassles. Today however, my connection seems to drop constantly. It disconnects every 5 minutes or so. Can you imagine how annoying it is when you have to re-connect every 5 mins?

If anyone can shed some light on the situation, I will be very glad.

Thanks,
WB

Be glad you not in Cape Town....

I have spoken to an iBurst supervisor and he said the connectivity problem is with a Saix satellite? Therefore they are making use of a congested IS connection in the Cape Town area.

Phoned Saix's (EBSC) and they informed that they are not experiencing any issues, so to be sure I phoned Verizon and IS are both not experiencing any issues at present.

So why does iBurst not know what the issue is, it's been longer than a week? I’m paying them good money for internet connectivity at the bare minimum they can at least tell me what is going on and when it will be resolved.

<10 kbps is not useable internet connectivity!

My speed seems to be fine, but the line drops every couple of minutes. I called the call center just now, they told me that my connection isn't stable but it's at 80%!!!!!

Ja Cape Town is pretty screwed lately.. not quite 10kbps, but bad. For me bieng capped its more the huge packet loss an terrible pings that are the problem.

I dont think IS would be experienceing problem, its just that now all of the CPT iBurst users are on one of their bad links, its not a problem on thier side, the speeds should be terrible if its so congested.
As for SAIX, I didnt know they used sattelites.. so who knows.

btw, GreatBigMouth, I have never had disconnecting problems, so no idea man.

This is what I'm seeing in Cape Town

The speed is like dialup. I tried downloading something from Adobe.com and the download box estimated 37 minutes to complete. The same file took 20 seconds to download on ADSL at home.

This problem in Cape Town seems to be getting out of hand. If you call the tech center, the first thing they tell you is that they have speed degration there lol.

Hopefully this problem will be resolved by the end of Thursday. My connection seems to be stable now, getting average signal but at least it doesn't drop every 5 mins!

Whats so great about the end of Thursday? lol...

Well, once again, the iburst hub works fine throughout this.. come and give me your stuff now! :p (It doesnt even effect your capped speeds, assuming you are capped..)

iBurst has been having serious trouble since last night. I have not been able to connect at all today.
