iBurst connection for R195 per month?!

Some guy by the name of Barry van Wyk, faxed an advert to the company my mother works at.
He's offering an iBurst connection for R195 per month (VAT incl) with no extra charges.

This sounds very suspicious to me because I went and looked at the prices on iburst.co.za and didn't see anything below R500/month.
Is this guy up to no good?

Yeah, we got the same advert and the non-technical people went crazy for it.

Of course, what they *don't* tell you, is that you only get 210mb for the month and that price doesn't include the hardware.

So, yes, its legit (iGo Lite package) but its very limited. I just tell people who want this to use their phone and GPRS - much cheaper if you buy a bundle.

I-Go-Lite month-to-month is R195pm. It gives 210mb data. You are hard capped there, unless you purchase additional data. But you also have to buy a modem (cheapest is R1820)

EDIT: Agree with nic777, better to use cellular for low data usage. Not GPRS though. I had to use that on holiday, soooo sloowww, I was very glad to get back to Iburst. 3G is quite decent though.

Iburst is only worth it on the G1,G3,G6 and G9 packages, which allow 64kpbs access after capping. You really don't want to be in the position of having to buy addtional data from Iburst. It is exhorbitant.

I would guess they are there so iBurst can say they have cheap offerings too.

I would like to disagree here .

I have the iBurt 500Mb package and it works perfectly for me.
I browse and work on the internet every day and 500Mb suffices. I just don't download anything except service packs, and code samples and things like that.

I know of 2 other people who also use the 500Mb packages and also never hit their cap.

My personal opinion is that the 500Mb (R299) package is the best for your average home user if they have no interest in downloading movies/ mp3's / or beta releases.
