Am I the only one that is ready to tear my hair out. I get data speed that are poorer than my dial-up modem. Why am I paying for this!!! I get no response from the helpdesk (the operator had no clue what iBurst was all about) or emails. What happened to the promise of >500k speeds??? If you are looking to get iBurst - my advice is DON'T!!!

my speed has improved somewhat...
but i must say iburst has certainly been better then my sentech exprience... cuz atleast i have more fast speeds then slow speeds thus far.
iburst are still trying, but i seriously think they need to either hire some guru's, calm down on sales and first implement a proper infrastructure in terms of customer service and internet service.

Someone mentioned that iBurst throttles speeds during the day for non-corporate clients and opens the throttles at night. Do you find a big difference during office hours vs night-time?

This is the first time this month I'm using iBurst for serious downloading. The speed is about 40 - 50% of usual. Usual was about 110kB/s.
EDIT: It's about 5 o'clock now and it seems speeds are back to normal for me. I'm on the 4ways tower (some hotel thingy).

I have also cancelled my i-burst contract in the last week, i have being using
it since dec 2004 when they had not officially launched it yet and was very happy at first with the service.
However as of late ie last 3 months it has caused me endless frustratrion which include disconnections/ "ping pong" pings etc.
Even when connecting to a local server (BF2) where you can see your ping
it jumps around from 150-500 and is not stable for 2 seconds causing endless
lag.
I even went out and wasted a further R500.00 on an external antenna hoping it would help "yea right dream on".
I now have ADSL 384 and have constant pings of 23 on the same server as stated above.
So as stated on other threads if you want i-burst for general browsing/e-mail downloads then yes it will work.....if you need a constant connection then no way.
I hear however that putting a pringles box in a certain way on your modem
facing NW of your tower while standing on one leg and checking your ping might help

I think anyone who CAN get ADSL, and is on iBurst is wasting their money. However for some of us there is no other broadband (using poetic license) option ... I can't even get a Sentech signal!
Since the current lot at WBS is battling to make a decent service out of the IMO great iBurst technology, we can only hope someone decent buys them soon, or at least they get a new investor to inject some more cash into the business so that they can upgrade their wobbly core network services (e.g bw mgr, proxy etc.).

This shows the state of "broadband" in SA w.r.t. LOS (level of Service), you need to have two separate connections (100% redundancy) to have half a chance to have good reliability.
I lie, I even have dialup if both iBurst & Sentech packs up at the same time.
