Hi all

I have an iBurst UTD connected to a Smoothwall firewall. Whenever I try to download a large file the download freezes and a resume with wget -c does nothing. Anyone else run into this?

I have tried downloads from archive.ubuntu.com and an icop download.

My current MTU settings on the smoothwall

ifconfig eth0 mtu 1352
ifconfig eth1 mtu 1352
ifconfig ppp0 mtu 1352

What else can I try, should ppp0 have a different setting to eth0,eth1 ?

Any help greatly appreaciated

Many thanks

welcome, leon...

this has been covered extensively, search for 'download just wont go' by coffeejunkie

best of luck, I still experience the same problem that you have today.

I looked for the post but did not find anything by that title or contributor. Any other ideas, maybe a link ;-)

In a nut shell what have you managed to do when this happens?

This is definately an iBurst problem.. I had a UTD for about 2 days (before returning it), and I had experienced the exact same problem often during that period.

The same file from the same source came down perfectly on dial-up.

Just slower of course :)

The weird thing is, you can start downloading another file from the exact same source, and it would come down at regular speeds for a while, but then drop down to 0.0kb/s, then you switch to another file, and it'll come down fine for a while at 50kb/s or whatever it might be, and then again, drop to 0.0kb/s, no matter what you do, those files just dont come down faster than 0.0kb/s, once they reach that stage.

But again, on dialup its perfect, so its not a problem with the source.

Definately an iburst problem

ok but is this one file from one source or... every download? maybe paste a link so we can see if its an iburst problem or a problem with your setup or something

two different source's, and different files, it was a few months ago, but it was on one of the two days i actually used iburst, and it was the first and only time i experienced the problem

sometimes when downloading big stuff the download just drops, its not often and it resumes fine but maybe its part of the same problem.
