So this weekend looks like my external antenna finally had its last breath.
Im looking at getting a new one , before i get one though , one question towards Shaun and Jannie...
Will the the new 2 Mb modem use the same antenna (external) as shipped with the 1 Mb hardware?
So sitting at 40% signal Without external antenna.
What is the expected lifespan of those omni antennas supposed to be ?

I am curoius two about external antennas for 2mb modems.

Good points.

Does anyone know what the ETA and cost of the new 2MB modem will be?
Pricing structure for bandwidth associated with that?

Also uplink speeds on the 2MB modem anyone?
And will some kind of deal be offered for those of us that have been supporting iBurst for years now and still have 1MB modems?

Hi guys.

The new modems will require an antenna plugged into each antenna.

I am testing a panel antenna which has the two connections already on.

When it comes to the omni I do not have an answer as yet.

Antennas life span is quite a long one. Did water get into yours or was there perhaps a kink in the cable?

Let me know.

I dont know to be honest , it still looks brand new .
I dont have spare cable or antenna to test with so it could be either or.
Shaun would it cost anything if a tech came to test the cable and antenna ?

The whole reason im asking whether it would work with iburst v2 (2mb) is because i dont wanna fork out R800 or whatever it costs on a new antenna that will be unusable come Iburst v2.
Thats like paying for an ADSL install that only works a month or two :/

Good question....;)

I hope you get an answer for that one....:)

Hi Dusk.

Drop me a call or a mail with some contact detail and I will sort you out.

Thanks

Dont worry guys. I just requested a techie out to Dusk to get a better picture on what I think is an RF issue.

No news here.

LoL...
We(I) want info on ETA of new hardware! If its possible ofc!:D

Well it turned out to be my Antenna that has died.
Where are the days where you could use a wire coat hanger as an antenna?
Anyways as far as the tech that came to the site , the omni will be compatible with Iburst v2 so i did purchase one. Lets hope this is not a sales pitch. :erm:

Other than that , thanx shaun for the effort in getting a solution to this problem.;)

How much did you pay for the antenna?

Thanks for the info, so I won't be throwing away my antenna anytime soon...:)
