ic looks like you have another poll for your list

yes please,
it is tiring sometimes going back 20 pages to search for something.
RPM & Mods please consider.

Slimothy, it's your suggestion, please open up the polling idea to debate in the what do we think thread ;)

As a fellow forumite (i.e. not in any other capacity), I look at the ADSL & Sentech child forums & notice that not a whole lot happens there - most threads & posts are started in the general discussion forums. Please note I am not shooting the suggestion down, as a fellow forumite I'm just saying that there would probably be an under utilised Technical forum...

Hi Stepper

I google the forum all the time to find stuff - much easier & I usually find exactly what I'm looking for in seconds ;).

...there is a Google for every occasion...

[/post]Ok not sure what you mean but I personally would much rather not waste money calling the Helpdesk & paying Telkomonopoly for the inconvenience when I could just as easily get Customer Service & Support right here in the MyBroadband.co.za iBurst forum.

Perhaps it is worthwhile asking WBS if they would be prepared to actively participate (i.e. as an extended funtion of their Helpdesk staff who will be available 24*7 anyway) if there was a separate iBurst Technical child forum...

as long as WBS staff are not treated like poop!

I think that is something entirely within the control of WBS representatives - the level of participation & quality thereof will determine how useful forumites perceive them to be.

Do you mean mods cracking the whip everytime a WBS representative is criticised for talking "BS"?

Methinks within reason of cutting out offensive & abusive comments that are likely to result in WBS withdrawing their participation, the purpose of moderators is (IMO) not to serve as human shields for anyone ;), criticism should be constructive, just as WBS should be complimented when deserved.

Shaun, comments please. I second this ic.

Ok, I am reviving this thread bcos everyone seems to have forgotten about this issue, and there are renewed requests for this to happen ASAP.

Please note that I am not the person that decides either way, you will have to convince RPM, so please post your suggestions for an additional iBurst forum, what its focus should be [e.g. Technical or WBS Support or whatever :)], and try to motivate why there should be a split.

Thanks.

I think it should be split into

General
Technical/Problems

General would be used for alot of the day to day runnings.. things like
p2p, report backs from WBS by people, cool appaz that work on iBurst network

Technical can be the issues of
Ethernet vs USB
Signal vs Speed etc etc

Thanks IC. I remember bringing up this subject in an even earlier thread.

I think Iburst deserves its own section - things are hectic here - and the forum could be split into something like:

a) General, Iburst news, product discussions, comparisons, developments etc

b) Current Network status, performance, experiences & problems etc.

c) Help, support & technical issues.

d) Communication with WBS.

Do ADSL users find the categorizing of their forums useful? I think it can be useful if the forums are well defined, otherwise they start bleeding into each other. But I guess it also helps if they are well moderated, which I'm sure they will be!

better categories imho then mine

I agree that having the iburst helpdesk here would be great.I don't think they will formaly agree to this the reason being the same as the conserns u are having.

I do think there should however be a representetive who monitors this forum just to post their side of the story, cuz i think in many cases people think the sky is falling, and get carried away, always surspecting the worst. And I would hate to see WBS loose cusomers over small bugs when all they needed to do was give us some reassurance and info.
