iBurst going bust?

Only gripes with iburst are:
1) the torrent throttling
2) the prices per gb are not competitive. <i don't expect R29/gb>

remain with iburst for "negative" reasons-
*the hassle of changing service providers
*neotel won't allow a 7-day 'no obligation' trial of their service
*expense of hsdpa modem (don't want the home internet dependent on an intermittently present tethered phone)
*extremely reluctant to have to deal with telkom.

the premium on not having to deal with telkom has a threshold. iburst is being edged ever closer to that threshold.

MagicDude4Eva leave Jannie alone, shame man.

well, he is leading the company and my concern is more about how this will further negatively affect service delivery. we are all grown-ups and those are valid questions which should concern every customer (prospective and existing) dealing with iburst - or?

I try to Compare ISP's with one another, but one must compare the Pro's of having Iburst vs the Negatives.

Personally i hope Iburst can rectify all the issues of the past and just grow to become an Better ISP.

I only recently joined Iburst (Giga User, UTD) from April. Thusfar my speeds have been very consistant, pings quite good compared to DSL (I get 55ms-70ms ping to Karoo.mweb.co.za)

To Test yours, Start -> Run -> Type in CMD. In the black dos-box... Type in Ping Karoo.mweb.co.za -t

I really hope Iburst can offer a few new packages or Add-on services which can include Shaped/Unshaped Data or times, Faster "throttled speeds" after Initial Cap, Higher overall Cap allowances etc.etc.
Any one of those "Addons" would attract more customers or maybe even score some of the old Clients back. (I'm sure alot of Clients still have their old Iburst modem)

Lets see what happens :)

My 2Cents

digging this one up, especially since most of the perm staff took voluntary retrenchment, and now the same type of skills are being hired.... tick...tock...tick...tock --- waiting for that bankruptcy newsflash (judging from the lack of Jannie's response, he must be busy job-hunting or is trying to guard that Craigavon tower of his)

It is very unlike Jannie to be this quiet, maybe you are right and something is brewing.

Not sure how you came up with this, but it is incorrect. No-one at iBurst received retrenchement letters and the last person I know who got fired was a call centre agent who did not return calls to a subscriber.

Wow so I guess by now all of the Call Center must be fired. Because today the 29th of Jan 2010 still the same... If I want a reply I need to come here complain then I will get something done. Last week Friday I got a call from someone at this email [email protected] asking for the proof of residence and whatever else sent it through an Tuesday and Nada... Nothing... BUT wait maybe the email is wrong because we were driving at the time. But then we should have received a follow up call.... but NADA.... This is for a prepaid application..... So Jannie if iBurst is not going down... with this type of service surely its just a matter of time?

i tried sticking with iburst through their problems but it has just gotten too bad.. i have thrown my modem away and paying for my 4meg line tomoro so

without shaun green.. iburst fell

Then you should fire most of the acounts and call centre staff as they hardley ever returnd my calls untill i threatend to cancell my contract. and Joanne Morris - she is worse I put a complainf on the website once and recieved this on email:

Dear Mr. Ismail

Thank you for bring your concern to our attention.

I have been trying to contact you to assist you with the below complaint, but was unsuccessful.

Kindly could you contact me on [email protected] or call me on 087 727 6341 so I could assist you with your complaint.

I would like to apologise again for the inconvenience caused.

Kind Regards
Joanne Morris

Now i know she never called as i have only cell numbers and i never recieved any missed calls from private number or any 087 numbers, nor did she leave a voice mail

my impression is, if iburst is going under (most likely), execs are just trying to milk as much out as possible now.
i'm changing isp's ASAP. just waiting on telkom to fix my line :cry:

their cost cutting restructuring has lead to what appears to be a mandatory 15-30 minute waiting period on their "customer support" line
and from the conversations with the "tech help" they fired all the experienced and qualified people as well. If that is what happened to the
public front of the company i'd hate to know what's happening behind the scenes

The company might be sold at a discount and maybe someones sone or his partners
May swoop on it. Vodacom will consider selling it if they want to aquire
A LTE license which is part of their roadmap.

Or it might just be a hand me down with some monies paid just to make it
Look legal.

I replied to a post about how Iburst rep pm's about calling you and saying that the line is busy, telling my story about that they say that the phone rings and rings and rings... And I am paying R599 for the 3.5GB still... and my post and the post I was replying to was DELETED.

So do I have to look for a notice that mybb was down, or do I suspect that otherwise?
