Hi

Had it for a day now and it seems to be working very well.

We did however find that we need to put it in the window to get a good signal otherwise it performs badly with signal drop-out frequently.

Indoors it gets between 1 and 3 bars and drops out a lot.
On the window ledge it gets 4 to 5 bars and no drop outs.

It seems they sit on the UUnet backbone and pings to sites hosted at Uunet Cape Town (www.iol.co.za) are good with average of 70ms.
Right now pings overseas to www.cisco.com are averaging at 360ms (better than our ADSL line!)
Pings to JHB (www.is.co.za) 109ms.

So that seems pretty good right now, but I guess as they get more customers in this area it could slow down.

asmith, where in Tokai are you situated?

Anywhere near the church, just after brockerway, up Tokai main rd?

Welcome to the Iburst sweetspot treasure hunt. You'll find that you'll get a good/perfect signal somewhere in/outside the building and that is X mark the spot. A lot of us here in gansters paradise have UDT's hanging out windows, sitting on ledges etc

LOL, but seriously though the way WBS have been messing with base-stations I suspect you'd run out of white paint marking new X sweet spots on your lawn each day...then all you need to do is train your dogs to deposit something on the old X spot so you can tell which is which...

Have 2 hectares of lawn, so that a heck of lot of X's. But the sweetspot seem to be 1 spesific windowsill with the antenna snug against the burglarbar

I should be getting my UTD tomorrow... and will be using Plumstead tower.

Had a reseller demo today, and was reasonably impressed. Should be interesting tomorrow, especially seeing as I am less than 1km from the tower !

I am literally down the road from the antennae, speeds seem very good when you are a few 100m away..... enjoy! :)
